Thanks Sarma for kindly publishing the datasheet.? However, I had already looked it up and my problem was in my interpretation of it.? I can follow vacuum tube and IC diagrams (I know which way round the pins go in sequence) however, the two pin varicap diagram got me stumped.? I solved the problem by unsoldering the varicap from the board and testing it with a DVM.? The orientation which conducted led me to believe that the pin attached to the red DVM probe was the anode which should go to the ground plane.? When I popped it back on the board with this orientation, the bevelled edge now faces the 15 pF trimmer, as per the older photo of the board containing the MV209. Thanks again for your help - I really appreciate your time and effort.
