The PA idle current should change, please replace the IRF and see. Should work ok. Keep the gate bias at zero then switch on first time with new IRF and slowly increase to 100mA without modulation. Raj At 27/01/2017, you wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJohn, I accept your apology, hope others will also.? ? I understand we all work hard for our money. I think people sometimes should wait a day before hitting the "send button". I usually do and re-write what was originally composed.? Glad you are getting the BITX to work. Hope all the best with their BITX. ? ?I still have not wired mine up, got one of the originals and then the display. I'm a procrastinator...there's always tomorrow. :-)? J.P. Re: Customer Noservice.
Thank you "ron van doremalen" for your suggestion?to re-install the sketch. It actually worked. But the tuning with the?potentiometer?is a bit flakey. I suspect a short occurred. It tunes too fast going up and too slow going down. Not like it did originally. But now I have something to work with. And I can try "?Joel Caulkins" suggestion of shorting the red wire. I just looked at the sketch and found "#define CAL_BUTTON (A2)". So it is confirmed that the red wire is for calibration.? Progress can be made in spite of hatred. I am glad I didn't take Jack's offer. If I went away like he wanted, this information would not be discovered and shared. I regret falling in to it with the haters and being ugly too. |
Re: Info a out buying BITX40

Sara- What a wonderful gift for your Father. I think the most important question to ask you is to ask if your father likes to make things he uses in ham radio? there is a certain amount to assembly that takes place in order to move the BITX40 from it's package to a point that it can be used daily. All though it is tested, it still needs to be connected properly to work. This is the fun part for all those that participate in this forum. We like to do things our way. So if we want to put it in a pre-made box we do so or if we want to gut a broken old radio and install it in that box, we can do that too. It can be quite an adventure as to exactly what we can do as? soon as we have it in our hands.

Re: Info a out buying BITX40
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAs delivered, it is voice only (SSB). Telegraphy? (CW) requires modification but your father could easily perform the required modifications. Bill On 27/01/2017 10:01 AM,

Re: Info a out buying BITX40
It operates on SSB, which is a voice mode. CW ("telegraph") would require either modifying the circuit, or injecting a tone into the microphone input. One possibility is using a digital interface and the free download called "FLDigi". But, as I said, the Bitx40 operates on single sideband (SSB) only, as it arrives from HFSigs. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýLawrence, Thanks for reminding me of All Electronics. I used to order stuff from them all the time many years ago and forgot about them. I would much rather order locally then have to wait 3 weeks from China. Just bookmarked. Joel? KB6QVI On Jan 26, 2017, at 2:10 PM, Lawrence Macionski via Groups.Io <am_fm_radio@...> wrote:

Bitx40 on 20 m
Now that I have the bitx working again with the arduino, I built an off board BPF for 20m. Using VFO - BFO (25.998600 MHZ -?11.998600 MHZ), the VFO is greatly attenuated when it reaches T2. All I'm getting is 700 mv p-p. I am assuming that the Q7 to Q9 circuitry is attenuating it. Maybe C91 and C92 have something to do with it. I will investigate. Guess I can try switching to VFO + BFO to check. I will post my results. 73 Ken VA3ABN |
Thoughts- de W8LM 3rd post

I am preparing to "breadboard" my BITX40 and get it operating before I drill and cut into that nice Instrument case I bought that I pictured in my last de W8LM post yesterday. I am going to make some purchases from one of my long time favorite parts places. Allelectronics.com. FREE Shipping if you order over $75. California to Kansas delivery about 2-3 days after I order. First contact
Wanted to report that I made my first contac today. Not a DX but still first contact is always exciting with a new rig (HFSigs BITX ver 3) and being my first qrp rig. I have a bitx 3c - thru hole next on my bench. Hopefully all will turnout well.? Glad that there is a strong community that is willing to share and help. Made this a great experience? 73 Art. N2AJO |

Re: Order - How to find details
Shlomo Goldstein
I ordered my BITX40 on Dec. 26, received notice that it was shipped on Jan. 02, and received it here in Israel on Jan. 27, exactly four weeks after the order.
Now to get it working on the bench, and then into a suitable enclosure. BTW, it arrived in perfect condition - no damage. 73, Shlomo 4X4LF |
Re: BITX40 PTT Noise
After a couple of searches and some reading from the archives, I got a thought. ?Normally that's a dangerous thing, but I'll toss it out for the real experts just in case. hi hi Would it be possible (or useful?) to add another relay and a slight delay so that when the PTT is pressed, the RX circuit is broken and there's a pause before the TX circuit is made? I'm not concerned about the speaker noise, but rather the carrier pulse when PTT is pressed. ?Maybe giving the caps a couple of miliseconds to discharge when changing states would fix all the symptoms? ?Or maybe not? Thanks, Andy KG5RKP |
Re: Posts not showing up in forum
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThey are now showing
up, Jason. From memory, the first post by a new member is
always moderated, so it wont appear until that has occurred.
That said, if you tried to make several posts before the
moderation had occurred, I guess they would also be slow to
appear. On 26/01/2017 9:56 PM, Jason N3YUG
