Re: Bitx40 varactor tuning/tuning dial?

Do you need a low pass filter between the output of theVFO kit and the Bitx40?

Re: VFO Stabiliser

Hi

Please check for a library of practically everything that has ever been written about Huff Puff VFO stabilizers. As well as several practical projects of varying complexity and performance!

Re: Bitx40 varactor tuning/tuning dial?

Hi all

You can also replace the varacter tuned analogue VFO with the QRP Labs Si5351A Synthesized VFO see for $33. The recent firmware changes support the negative IF offset required by the BITX40 and another change to eliminate audible clicks on tuning. The VFO has 10 preset memories and variable tune rate 1Hz, 10Hz, 100Hz etc.

We also have an aluminium case kit available for the Ultimate3S kit but which also fits this VFO see . The case kit includes cut, drilled and silkscreen printed extruded black aluminium enclosure, two toggle switches, two buttons, 9-pin D connector, power socket and matching plug, BNC socket, feet and mounting hardware. The rotary encoder in the VFO kit can be installed in place of one of the buttons (typically the right hand button). I don't know but perhaps even the BITX40 could be fit in the case. The case is 16cm deep and there is plenty of space behind the VFO PCBs but I'm just speculating, I don't know how large the BITX40 board is.

Re: Difference between models?

I think its not being answered because its already been discussed a few times. I have not done it yet, but at least one person has connected it to Q12 emitter side of C43 via a capacitor. Search the archives for Frequency Counter.

Handheld Radioshack mike for BITX

Hi,

I am getting my BITX40 SMT kit boxed up. Thanks Farhan for the incredibly low price for a good product.?
I have a Radio Shack hand microphone/speaker, part number 21-1834.?
It has a connector with two side by side two conductor plugs. One is a 3.5mm and the other a 2.5mm plug. I ohmed out the 3.5mm and it is 8 ohms so that one is known. The other one must be a mic but I don't understand the PTT on this unless it just is in series with the microphone element I did confirm from the data sheet that it is an electret element. I could understand if the 2.5mm was three conductor.?
Has anyone used one of these with the kit and if so how did you manage to wire it.?
Thanks.?

I bought a kit from Farruk(sp) a few months ago. I just put it together last night for my Bitx40. I found I do not have the I2C interface for the displays in my collection, so ordered a proper display just now. This will be my first Arduino experience. I know absolutely nothing.
