I could actually move the front panel away from the board and the RFI was almost gone.
I put a 2x 3.5mm ferrite bead on the power cable. RFI noise has been attenuated greatly. It¡¯s no longer audible.
Now just some birdies. I¡¯ll deal with them.
So successful troubleshooting.

Took awhile to track down.
Fairly simple fix.

sBitx app crash on band change

I've noticed that occasionally the S bidex app will spontaneously shut down/ crash when changing bands. Has anyone else seen this?

Here¡¯s another picture,
Internal noise on 80 meters. Same on all bands. Appears on LSB. Very audible.

Re: sBITX-V3 : USB-Headset not working

Hello Jens.
?
The USB headset application is working fine on 32 bit and 64 bit. Have you tried adjusting USB volume and mic level? Have you tried disconnecting all other devices from the USB ports except for the headset?

?
?
The proper steps for operation are:
?
1. Connect the USB Headset
2. Start the sBitx app
3. Start the USB Headset app
4. Press "Enable USB Mic"
5. Adjust the slider for Mic Level.
6. Press the "USB Audio ON/OFF" button
7. Adjust the USB volume slider
8. Press PTT

Re: S/N 0994 receiver internal noise

The DPI/DSI 22 pin ribbon cable is shielded but not grounded to either at the Pi4 or the display board.
Two separate modules. Where to ground properly?

Please send me a picture or video of your V2, V3. Antenna not attached. IF to 70.
Put your SBITX in LSB on any band. Now take a video or a picture of your spectrum/waterfall display.

I¡¯ve attached a picture of my V3 and the obvious noise. This is after I did the 5v BB and internal shielding. It was much worse.

Re: Homebrew sBitx RTC and PWR/SWR meter board

Very cool!

What are these blue holders for your boards? They look 3D printed. Is there an existing design?

I¡¯ve used these in the past to mount things on a wooden board, but sometimes the screws holes are too far inside the board to reach:

Re: sbitx on autostart : a potential fix?

Mr F ...

Your "startup.sh" works for me ;-) and I did not have to uninstall pulseaudio or anything else. I have rebooted 2 times with success.

I'm using JJ's 64bit (latest version), and I have not modified anything - straight out of the box 64bit version ....

But what I did do, was to put the "shebang" at the beginning of the "start.sh" script. Maybe that helps?

Anyway ... autostart is not for me, so I will now remove it ... why does it need to autostart anyway? "Horses-for-courses" I suppose.

Re: sBITX-V3 : USB-Headset not working

I would like to add to the topic that the solution always lies in the details.
What I wrote earlier was that Paul did not plug in the USB headset immediately, but after starting it. Maybe this is the solution? Since the style of the post says a lot about the person, I see that there are many of us here in the forum and we have a lot of knowledge. Not everyone can have immediate knowledge of certain things, but I will say that there are things that can be learned. That's why I say don't give up, there is definitely a solution, you just have to find it.

Re: sbitx on autostart : a potential fix?

That is probably because the headset redirection needs pulseaudio.
Thanks for testing it!

Oh.. sorry. I just looked back on your post history.
Please forgive me for my comment on your perpetually dissatisfied posting style.
That¡¯s just the way you roll. Gotcha..

Re: sBITX-V3 : USB-Headset not working

I¡¯m sorry Jens but it sounds like your experience with the device has been less than stellar.
I¡¯m just like you, I¡¯ve had some issues. Some were resolved by reading about other user experiences
Other issues I fixed on my own after better understanding the device and how its software functions.
This is an experimenter targeted platform, it¡¯s not a fully refined and perfected commercial flagship made for codgers that just use the radio.
If it is not what you signed up for, then you¡¯ll never be satisfied with it.

I also think there may be some reluctance to help from others due to the tone of the posts that have your name on them.
I understand your frustration, but the tone of outrage and copious use of exclamation points sets a tone that may not be the best for extracting the info you are looking for so passionately.

maybe it¡¯s a translator flaw.. IDK.. what a I can tell you is that my USB headset works.
I am still unsure what issue you are having. I use a Logitech headset and a Plantronics headset without issue.
have you modified or altered the audio device names, order, or /priority?

In sBITX-Toolbox-Manual is a list of considerations and some brands/models known for good compatibility
based on user reports and general Linux compatibility.
?
At this basics I bought and tried following headsets :
===========================================
-Logitech H390
-Logitech H600 (USB / Wireless)
-Jabra Evolve 20
-Jabra Evolve 40
?
All these headsets will recognized from sBITX / Linux without a problem. (terminal type cmd : ¡°alsamixer¡± )
?
In sBITX-Toolbox manual is written :
Your sBitx may or may not have SOX installed. It is required to use the headset and/or headphones.
But : I have SOX installed !
I can see SOX in terminal if type:? pi@sbitx:~ $ sudo apt-get install sox
?
At USB-ports I have only connected a liitle dongle for keyboard , nothing more .
?
The audio`s from the headsets will NOT ROUTED (between)? from & to sbitx application .

@Jens Would you be able to share with me the manufacturer and model of the USB headset you are attempting to use?
Also, what other devices, (if any) are attached to the USB ports of the sBitx?

Re: ubitx v6 lsb/usb

Thanks Evan. I like that one too.

I got out my scope. It's an old-fashioned 60 MHz crt-style. It looks like CLK2 tops out my scope...
Results as follows:
CLK2 (Raduino pin 5): 0.2v PP, 60 MHz
CLK1 (Raduino pin 8) 0.3v PP, 40 MHz
CLK0 (Raduino pin 11) 3v PP, 10 MHz

All referenced to pin 12.

Reached a point of diminishing returns on this internal noise issue.
Here¡¯s what is effective:

5v DC-DC converter (Drok) upgraded.
Single board LPF on converter output.
Proper grounding on converter.
RF shielding on 22 pin DPI ribbon
RFI cover over display module
HAT RFI plate on Pi4
These enhancements have attenuated the internally generated RFI.

Especially shielding the DPI cable.

I have a question, as I also found a solution to this topic elsewhere.
Did you shield the monitor's 22-pin flexible cable and ground it at one or both ends? or did you leave it ungrounded?

Re: sBITX-V3 : USB-Headset not working

Jens,
I think you have to figure out for yourself where and what you didn't do well or missed a step on the subject.
It can be a big help if you can search well and follow the USB headset entries in the forum's search engine.
As I recall, G0KAO Paul was the one who started researching this topic and performed many experiments.
It is also worth reading His writings, because He wrote many details.

The fact that it ended up in the Toolbox package is not authoritative, I think.
If W9JES used the latest 64-bit FD image, he would probably get ahead of the solution, because he introduced many things in the image and made it usable. I still don't have a USB headset because I'm not interested at the moment, so I'm just watching and following the topic.
