Re: #sBitx SSH login to sBitx #sBitx

Hello Ichiro,

I am not sure which default password you are using.? The published one for Raspbian or Farhan's one for the sBitx.? Here is the email from Farhan that describes how he accesses SSH on sBitx and has his default password (hf12345);

#sBitx SSH login to sBitx #sBitx

Hello everyone.
I would like to log in to sBitx via SSH, but I can't.
Has the password for the pi been changed from the default?

Indirectly driving the tuning slug is one way to solve this.

There is a 3D printed solution for everything these days :)

I really only played with it twice, but there was an IF Gain (this is by memory ) that I turned up and I heard a lot of stuff

I¡¯m just been terrifically busy, the update kit just arrived and when I get back from my next trip I will try to switch around the transistors. ? But hey, I demonstrated the radio to a bunch of sixth graders and we now have some handful of kids learning morse code. ?Surprise surprise, they like secret things like that. Go figure! They¡¯re having fun with Morse code straight keys right now.?

Not to be a lead balloon,

but this is why i decided not to buy the sbitx. toooooo many hardware problems. JUst my own opinion, but the hardware should be worked out. ITs the software i was waiting for the bugs to be worked out.

For the problems, I will completely pass on this one. As for the ubitx? I love em want more of them.
Ashhar did the ham community pround with the ubitx.

Re: sbitx and freedv

Hi!!!

First, thanks for the great work on the sbitx and also the customer support team. Great to know that freedv is on the todo list.

I been trying to look around the files to see how the sound routing around the sbitx works, so if you have diagram or any kind of explanation, it will be welcome.

Thanks again for this awesome sdr!!!!

Re: sbitx and freedv

Juan,
I have been reading the freedv api, it shouldn't be too difficult to do it. I had to take a break the last few days and hopefully we will have to first noise out soon.

Also there is another project that uses the freedv api called smalldv,??? ?

On the smalldv project the author developed a little software called fdvcore. This is the actual tx and rx freedv modems.
if you input
fdvcore -l it gives the valid devices available
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ fdvcore -l
Valid devices:
?+ Device ID = 0: "hw:audioinjector-pi-soundcard,0"
?+ Device ID = 1: "hw:Loopback,0"
?+ Device ID = 2: "hw:Loopback,1"

?Usage: fdvcore <dev> <modem>

? ? ? ?<dev>? ?- device ID
? ? ? ?<modem> - the Codec2 modem { 1600, 800XA, 700, 700B, 700C, 700D }

so i tried with the sound card
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ fdvcore 0 700D
DEBUG: Card ID = 0
DEBUG: Modem? ?= 7
DEBUG: Window? = 512
DEBUG: using 2 input channels.
DEBUG: using 2 output channels.
mode=tx
OK:MODE=TX
mode=rx
OK:MODE=RX

When mode=tx is entered, the freedv audio will come out from speaker.
The problem is that on the smalldv software the audio input and output is phisically switched.

Any ideas on how to integrate this on the sbitx???

I haven¡¯t had this issue but I did once find I was off frequency and a simple restart of the sbitx software fixed it. So that is my go-to first troubleshooting step on any problem not accompanied by smoke :)

He was a fabulous homebrewer who got things right in the first pass. A knack of the highest order.
We spoke at least once a week and he was a great draw at the Lamakaan Amateur Radio Convention. Last convention, he gave away hundreds of PCBs of Norcal40.
From the simple bitx radios, his footprint extended to setting up Apache Labs, the manufacturers of the high end ANAN radios.
I spoke with him just two days ago, he was in septic shock, with poor prognosis, being transferred from one hospital to another. Incredibly, we chatted about putting up a yagi as soon as he got better. I knew I was lying, I hope he didn't.
He will be missed badly.

#sBitx I give up #sBitx

The sBitx will now be an expensive display item in the showcase.

I have changed the PA-fets twice during the last week.
?
Today the PA gave up after two and a half FT8 blocks on 20m (pskreporter gave 30 reports!). Power settings was 10W and my power meter said 15W to the antenna.

Re: PTO without 3D printer

Nope, not taking the screws out.? Seriously while it works copying it would
how I torture you.? Everything is built from my not near 55++ years
accumulating junkbox.

The idea is not original.?

You have images of the screw and coil assembly and asume the screw has a hex nut.
Now if you put a deep socket with the correct hex inside shape you can rotate the screw
in or out without the socket doing same.? Imagine the socket on a shaft with a bearing
and a knob.

IF the screw only had a pin at its end we still have something we can? grab and turn,
so if a tube with a long lengthwise slot were slid over that pin we can turn the screw
but the tube does not have to go in or out.

There are several ways to vary that.? The kit described and sold uses a threaded bushing
as a fixed rotary element with the knob.? A screw threads in and out of it when it turns.?
The intermediate board with nut prevents the retained threaded screw from turning see?

the manual for how that one works.? ?

One of many ways to solve this problem.? The real trick is to do it with easily obtained
materials and limited tools (hobby saw, files, drill).? FYI the slotted tube was done using
a Dremel tool and a narrow cutoff wheel, very carefully to keep it straight.
