Rahul was the guy who took the ugly built original bitx20 and laid out the first pcb for it. It opened up homebrew ssb for hundreds if not thousands of hams. Sunil's boards are his designs.
He was a fabulous homebrewer who got things right in the first pass. A knack of the highest order.
We spoke at least once a week and he was a great draw at the Lamakaan Amateur Radio Convention. Last convention, he gave away hundreds of PCBs of Norcal40.
From the simple bitx radios, his footprint extended to setting up Apache Labs, the manufacturers of the high end ANAN radios.
I spoke with him just two days ago, he was in septic shock, with poor prognosis, being transferred from one hospital to another. Incredibly, we chatted about putting up a yagi as soon as he got better. I knew I was lying, I hope he didn't.
He will be missed badly.
