Re: Ubit 6 & KD8CEC
Not having put this into my V6 yet, but I would suggest you spend a few more $$ and get the enhanced version instead of the basic or discovery.? See?
The basic and discovery have less memory and a slower processor. Although not a lot of difference in the 2.8" size, you might need to trim down some of the functionality of the screens or have less headroom when new stuff comes out.? Just a thought for $4 more... 73 Mark AJ6CU |
Re: sBitx process no longer starts
Yeah, it's very easy to be a row of pins out and you need to be careful of that as it has the potential to cause mucho damage. I may have put it back incorrectly or bent a pin, although I took care to avoid damage. As you know the reassembly of the unit is delicate and tedious. |

Ashhar,
We all accepted some risk inherent in a developer¡¯s edition. I imagine most of us would have been happy just to learn of the fix. To send upgrade kits free of charge was extraordinary. Thanks much! Regards, Craig |
Re: Connecting the sBitx Digital Audio Board to a x86 PC
For quite a while "just buy an HL2" wasn't an option. Another batch is finally available. On Thu, Aug 18, 2022 at 3:11 PM Peter McCracken <peter.mccracken@...> wrote:

Hi Jim, I¡¯ve got the components coming for the S-meter as well, so we can compare notes as we go - WhatsApp is fine for me. |
Re: sBitx process no longer starts
I would guess the codec on the digiboard isn't responding, maybe pull the pi & digiboard and check the connectors, check of any signs of issues, if all looks good put back together and fire it up to see if it works. I assume you are using Ashhar's image in an unmodified state correct ? On Thu, 18 Aug 2022 at 19:59, John Terrell, N6LN <N6LN@...> wrote:

Re: Connecting the sBitx Digital Audio Board to a x86 PC
It has i2s pins and runs linux so in theory it should be possible to port the code with some adaptions. The China site seems to be out of stock though, a shame wouldn't mind buying one to play with. Re: Connecting the sBitx Digital Audio Board to a x86 PC
You would need to install an i2s interface in the PC and they seem to be shockingly expensive, why on earth would you want to do this ? If you want to hook an SDR directly to your PC there are a plethora of SDR's which do this off the shelf, just buy an HL2. On Thu, 18 Aug 2022 at 14:44, Rafael Diniz <rafael@...> wrote: Hi all, |
sBitx process no longer starts
Previously my sBitx (sn#12) started without trouble. Now it hangs for about 30 seconds and then I get a dialog box asking whether I want to terminate the process as it¡¯s taking too long to start. I downloaded another RPi image to a new 32GB micro SD card and it still hangs. See the screenshot.? suggestions? |
Re: Daylight radio toroids
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI don¡¯t think things are working the way they should OR I am not interpreting the data correctly. I really have not measured Q before with the NanoVNA. The micrometals? core showed a resonance of 13MHZ with a Q of 1000. The bird cage showed a resonance of 28MHZ with a Q in excess of 40,000. Those inductors were just from port1 to ground. Something does not add up:{ I used NanoVNA-saver and my SAA2 to get those figures. 73 K3BO Sent from for Windows ? From: Ashhar Farhan

Re: Ubit 6 & KD8CEC
Hi Jonathan I am about to do the exact same thing and purchased this Nextion: Which I basically pulled from the same youtube video.? There have been discussion threads about different versions of the Nextion and different versions of the CEC code so glad you had success. Can you confirm if this is the Nextion you used?? I may want to separately Whatsapp you for details while doing this.? You possibly up for that?? I am also building in the same S meter referenced in the video as well. Thanks in Advance for any guidance. Re: Connecting the sBitx Digital Audio Board to a x86 PC
Other option for me which needs a x86 CPU, could be a Rock Pi X, which already has the 40-pin raspberry header and uses the same form factor of the Pi:

Hi Ashhar,
I would highly recommend that the "live" sbitx executable file, macro files, and user settings be moved out of the user¡¯s git directory and be placed elsewhere. I noticed the sbitx executable and user settings file makes pull requests become unmergable. This is easily fixable, but will be an ongoing issue. As I believe someone else mentioned, there are conflicts with the user settings file that is pushed via git pull and the user¡¯s settings file. Perhaps there should be a versioning method in the user setting file which the executable checks at runtime and informs the user if they need to update the user setting file from git. This will likely happen as new features which include new settings are added to the settings file. I¡¯d be happy to work on the user settings file version functionality and also a script users could run (i.e. ¡°install¡± or ¡°update¡±) to place the executable and macros in another directory from their git directory, and give the option of keeping their existing user settings file, or overwriting or appending new settings from git. 73 Goody K3NG |
