A massage for Sunil ... not found the code folder

HI Sunil ...

I'm not able to found the folder:

... /easy bitx vfo bfo code/ ,,,

and are not possible to download all sketch .ino !

Please i'm very interested in these files for my EASY-BITX.

Best regards IW4AJR Loris

Re: ??IF Stage doubts??

The one that was supplied since day 0 did not have this name.

The sketch sent on email had this.

Let me check the 11 files loaded post and see what it has to offer.

PS to everybody. The si5351 is getting EOL? is easily procurable in your countrie(s)

Re: ??IF Stage doubts??

The name Earnest was done by me for a customer unfortunately when compiling again it was not deleted and the compiled software sent to you had this name.
The DDS works fine for me and many of my friends,
However if you find something better use that which should solve your problem.
Thanks?

Sunil

Re: ??IF Stage doubts??

I am also suggestive of the fact kit is not bad! the firmware is poor!
Quality of PCB is outstanding for that matter!

Also, the firmware copy supplied on email when flashed writes Earnest on the radio display? Any clue who must have coded it?

Re: ??IF Stage doubts??

I can provide you with the 'STOCK' Firmware for dissection that has been mailed to me by Sunil.

I am unsure, why he is not posting it online. I wont be posting it here any way or uploading it anywhere as it would be against ethics (not the law)

This is my GIT.

Re: 11 files uploaded #file-notice

Sunil,

Your file VFO_BFO_DDS.ino? uses the Si5351 library from etherkit.
Here are the many different releases of the etherkit Si5351 library:

Since your file si5351calibration.ino says "Copyright 2015", and in the current V2.1.4 release
it says "Copyright 2015 - 2018" in that same file,?it seems a rather old version was used.

Can you tell us which version of the Si5351 library was used to build your firmware?
Alternately, could you make the?si5351.cpp and si5351.h files from your build computer available?

Jerry, KE7ER

I've done it a different way using a PIC, but no reason it couldn't be adapted to any other micro controller like an Arduino

Re: ??IF Stage doubts??

Sunil,

I'm convinced you have a solid product that works well.
It fills a need, as HFSignals no longer sells a single band rig.

Experimentation is encouraged, and I rather enjoy trying to figure out
these puzzles when problems arise.? Long distance troubleshooting
works best when all pertinent information is provided.
When mods to a kit cause it to not work correctly, that in no way
suggests that the kit was bad.

Re: ??IF Stage doubts??

In case anyone is curious about this business of the BFO moving
when the VFO is changed:

If it is a library issue causing the Si5351 to tune a common vco that is used
for both for VFO and BFO, then they would both move the same amount
relative to their frequency.

Example:?
Receiving at 14.2mhz, BFO at 10mhz, VFO at 10+14.2=24.2mhz.
Tuning the rig down to 14.0mhz, the VFO is now at 10+14.0=24mhz,
and the BFO moves proportionally down to 10mhz * 24/24.2 = 9.917mhz

That is why I was asking for measurements on what the VFO and BFO were doing.
For now at least, this seems the most likely source of the problem reported.

The si5351bx routines used on the uBitx (and in Allard's Bitx40 code)?
operate from a single vco operating at a fixed frequency of 875mhz.
All the various outputs are generated by dividing that vco down using?
fractional output dividers.? Tuning is accomplished by adjusting one of the
fractional output dividers, not by adjusting the frequency of the vco.?

The etherkit library may well have changed its default configuration
from from one method to the other between the various versions.

Bill

There are no unworthy questions, each of us should admit to learning something here.

Team

Would not it be logical to host bitxmap at HFsignals?? One could invite buyers to add themselves to the map. An invite could be pinned to the front of this group, with link to hfsignals.?

Hi,

I would make sure you board is well grounded.? The cases are often painted very well so the standoffs and screws never make electrical contact.? Clean off the paint in the inside where the standoffs rest.

Make sure the display and raduino are full plugged into their sockets.? If the main board and display locations are a bit off, then the boards can start to become disconnected or slanted, which can ruin the connection reliability.

Re: ??IF Stage doubts??

Sunil's firmware as programmed into the Nano he ships with each radio is fine.
He has sold plenty of them, and they work.

I still don't know what you have done, or what you are doing.
On scant information, my best guess is that you compiled Sunil's source code
using the wrong version of some Si5351 library, and that the version you used
was tuning an Si5351 vco common to both the VFO and BFO.
We had several issues with incompatible etherkit library versions
back when the hfsignals Bitx40 plus Raduino first came out in late 2016.

I suggest to Sunil that he include the appropriate Si5351 library source
when he posts his Arduino sketch.

From what you posted, your uBITX is a V-5.? There are not a lot
of differences between V-3, V-4, V-5, and V-6.? Most of the factory
changes were focused on FCC compliance.? There are several
3rd-party operating software systems for uBITX transceivers.

Info for your uBITX V5 is located at

The home page for the uBITX line is located at

Some user experience based help is at

The jumpy tuning might indicative of RF getting into places where it
should not be.? It could also be a damaged tuning encoder (too much
heat during soldering?).? Some on this discussion group may have
experienced similar problems and can provide better advice.

If you have a DVM it might be worthwhile to observe power supply
voltage to make sure there is enough current to run the rig.

You might want to read over the instructions to see how to go directly
into the configuration menu when you turn it on.

I didn't realize there were so many different models.? I have no
idea what model it is but when I turn it on it says uBITX v5.1

I joined the group to learn more about it before asking stupid
questions.

Main problem at the moment is turning the tuning seems to make
the frequency jump by random, sometimes large, values.? And, it
is different depending on which way you turn it.? As a result,
the menus don't change smoothly and band change is truly weird.
Almost looks like really bad keybounce.

I am not sure if there is better firmware or not but I will
need to learn how to load new firmware into the Raduino cause
I already see things regarding the display that I am not going
to be happy with.

and #define BFOFREQ (9997469UL)????? // initial (uncalibrated) BFO frequency (Hz)

Re: ??IF Stage doubts??

so i changed ????? bfo_freq = constrain(BFOFREQ + knob + shift, 9997469UL, 12000000UL);
in? Allards code and in the settings menu, i could tune the BFO...
Kickass sinusoidal repsponse.

Now touching the base of Post mix amp Rx side give me a buzz as described by sunil in his manual
However, please do note, this is not sunils code!

I would still tune the number and program to trace where the BFO settings are done and place numbers perefectly
