The designs for cost effective ventilators already exist.

If production facitlites were to adapt to be able to produce existing curretnly FDA etc approved ventilators then that may be the fastest way to produce effective and safe ventilators.
The IMV designs that I am seeing being discussed are likely to produce many unintended consequenes if used on patients. The legal systems in developed contries will be clogged for decades as a result.
Support modes such as PSV, CPAP is what are needed.
I have worked in the ventilator industry for 30 years and have sat on the national standards committee in Australia that writes the local standards and contributes to the internationl standards.

Hi arv --- whatever works best,, I'm fine with -- there is this new forum now and I think quite a few peopple are there.
It is possible that SOME people in the wider group would like periodic updates (altruism, pride in thehobby, that sort of thing) so maybe a topic or something?woud be wide.? ?Whatever you think best!? We have a LOT of helping people now!
THANKS!

Do you have the radio connected to a dummy load when you are trying the TX function?? By your description, it seems to be getting RF back into the audio circuits.? That could be caused by a mismatch on the antenna.? I would suggest that you try a dummy load to see if it happens then.

The beep every 0.5 seconds is probably caused by your keyer setup.? There is a menu selection to choose either a straight key or an iambic keyer.

At this point, I would recommend that you focus on getting rid of the "peeeeeeeeeeeeeep" in SSB mode.

Okay, many problems with the V6, from starttill now(still no licence but working on), when i use the radio for listening it is nice but when i turn the tuning knob, often the frequence goes backwards??? specialy when i turn fast....however the prblem is there.
Second, when i try to tx, then on every transmit frequence there is a peeeeeeeeeeeeeep, louder the the mike audio. I removed cause of that the speaker, but still peeeeeep, so i changed the electret, and still peeeeeeep.
So i tryed to change the radio to cw, and pushed the mike, then there is only a lot of peeeeps but constantly every half second.
I did not change the software, i did not change the mainboard or the arduno, just the mike. even when i shortcut the ptt, the peeeeeeeep is still there.
So i tryed to get everything out of the metal box and tryed it just open.....still peeeeep.
So what to do now???, take a hammer???
I notice that the raduno with the screen, has a bad possision at the metalbox. When i put the screws in, i have to pull up the screen for about 5 mm.
So bad contruction or bad luck??
As last, sorry for my bad Englisch..

And actually, I agree as well.
To be clear, I thought about this last night, and my 1/7,388ths of the group opinion is that there are four basic situations. For this example. Imagine someone wrote a book, the situation could be:

A) A list member writes a book on-topic of the group,
B) A non-list member writes a book on-topic of the group,
C) A list member writes a book off-topic of the group,
D) A non-list member writes a book off-topic of the group.

In my opinion, both situation A) and B) are perfectly appropriate discussions for BITX20, as the discussions are on-topic. Situation C) is acceptable, as it is one of our own sharing an accomplishment that (hopefully) some in the BITX20 group might be interested in and to the extent the messages between list members regarding their ventilator project was discussed here, it is fine - but once people start joining BITX20 on groups.io just to discuss the ventilator project and not the BITX20 family of radios, it may be time to start a new group... We appear to be at that point, and the new group has been created.

The Elon Musk discussion was off-topic and did not involve any list members, so it clearly falls into situation D), so in my opinion it was out of place.

But given the exponential growth of this pandemic and the dire predicament that
regions a week or two ahead of us are in, I was inclined to defend the discussion.
I expect this to be my last post here on ventilators.
Agree and agree.

I've long been convinced that Tesla/SpaceX have some exceptional engineers.
But doubt anything will be available everywhere (think Yemen, Syria, Zimbabwe, Myanmar,
far NE Oregon) within a few weeks.? Designing something simple enough to be replicated?
wherever it's needed (assuming they can find lawn sprinkler valves and can get a shipment
of 10000 autostuffed control boards) could prove critical.

A 16x2 seems simplest and adequate.?
If putting everything down on one board, a 48pin STM32F* would be easy to obtain.
Lots of different options if any particular flavor becomes unavailable, has plenty of IO pins.
The Nano modules have been hard to get, I assume due to factories shutting down.

Typically the goal of international groups such as this one is to remain apolitical and avoid discussions of topics that only affect one region By staying on topic. (Remember the "CA State is shutting down all repeaters" scare? The "France wants to eliminate the 2m band" scare? In my opinion those discussions didn't belong here either, thought they were arguably Amateur Radio-related, unlike the Elon Musk link.) This group has a specific purpose on it's groups.io homepage:
?
"This group exists for constructors of the various BITX projects, to discuss all aspects of the design and construction including problems, components, modifications and experiences using the rigs."

My vote is to stay on-topic, but mine is only one of the 7,833 voices on this reflector. I'll happily reconsider if/when I hear Elon has ordered a uBitx has had some feedback or improvements on the design.
