Ken,
Looks like you convinced Arv and Farhan.
And actually, I agree as well.
To be clear, I thought about this last night, and my 1/7,388ths of the group opinion is that there are four basic situations. For this example. Imagine someone wrote a book, the situation could be:
A) A list member writes a book on-topic of the group,
B) A non-list member writes a book on-topic of the group,
C) A list member writes a book off-topic of the group,
D) A non-list member writes a book off-topic of the group.
In my opinion, both situation A) and B) are perfectly appropriate discussions for BITX20, as the discussions are on-topic. Situation C) is acceptable, as it is one of our own sharing an accomplishment that (hopefully) some in the BITX20 group might be interested in and to the extent the messages between list members regarding their ventilator project was discussed here, it is fine - but once people start joining BITX20 on groups.io just to discuss the ventilator project and not the BITX20 family of radios, it may be time to start a new group... We appear to be at that point, and the new group has been created.
The Elon Musk discussion was off-topic and did not involve any list members, so it clearly falls into situation D), so in my opinion it was out of place.
But given the exponential growth of this pandemic and the dire predicament that
regions a week or two ahead of us are in, I was inclined to defend the discussion.
I expect this to be my last post here on ventilators.
Agree and agree.
