Hi Farhan,

With your original code installed in my lash up test bed, and A6 connected to VCC through 4k7?the encoder and ptt inputs didn't work.
CAT did change the frequency and set the unit to TX perfectly.
I had thought perhaps it was due to finger trouble.
Look forward trying the new code in my test bed and await delivery of the specified TFT to explore further.

Thank you for all your excellent work on this new version.

Re: ubitx v6, refactored code

Rick,
The radios come factory aligned. I am prepping something that will make bfo setting easier.
The v6 code does need a bitmapped display to show the buttons. So back porting it to a 16x2 display maybe difficult.
All the display specific routines just in the nanogui.cpp

Hello all,

I've got two unbuilt/unattempted kits for sale. Both kits are as packed by HFSIGNALS.

First up, an unbuilt Bitx40 from Dec. 2016, 2x speakers and an undrilled case from Amazon (blue & white) sold as kit, looking for $50 shipped ConUS. (Pictures of case available, contact me directly if interested.)

Second, I have an unbuilt uBitx from Feb. 2019, asking $100 shipped ConUS.

Both kits have original invoice from HFSIGNALS.

PayPal accepted, email me direct with any questions.

Thanks,

Re: Templates for China EF01 Electronic Plastic Shell Project Case for a BITX40

I used the same plastic case for both the BitX40 and the uBitX. I saw a very nice panel on one of the forums and contacted the builder. DH1AKY, who told me he used some free panel design software to create the panel, then printed it out. I did the same thing when I designed mine, and actually used the program's feature to print a mirror image, which I taped to the back of the plastic and used as a template to drill, dremel, and file the openings. The program came from this source, which offers it to encourage people buying metal panels from their company:

And attached are the panel files he sent me to use as a starting point, a .jpg a Dutch ham sent me that could also be printed out and used if you scale it right, and a picture showing how my front panel ended up. By the way, these are just basically flat pieces of plastic, so as long as the thickness fits the slot in the top and bottom covers you can use anything. I've seen some use aluminum sheet to fit the space or some other plastic, so don't be afraid to try it if you break one.

These square pots have thin flat tapered pins and in my experience these are so easily broken should the item be twisted.I would suggest a skewed pot should be replaced preferably by a multiturn variety. This would give much greater control to setting the bias.Just ensure any pot you fit will take the 100mA needed.

?

My V5 board which I received in July 2019 had exactly the same problem: RV2 or RV3 (don't rememember which one)
was bad.

Since no damage was visible, it took some time to find the cause for the low power output.

I first thought one of the IRF510 was dead and changed it, but this did not help.

After measuring the bias of both MOSFETS then, I noticed that one poti could only be adjusted to about 1,5V (i think). If you turned further,
the voltage just disappeared.

When i desoldered the poti, i noticed that one pin was broken. So I think that the path on which the wiper glided become uneven and the poti lifted
itself when turning to much to the left so that the contact of the torn pin got interrupted.

After exchanging the poti to a new one, it worked immediately :-)

Re: Brand new uBiTX v5.0 quality issue ?

Farhan, if the order of component placement is reversed so the trimpot goes in after the FET/heatsink, this will avoid any stresses on the trimpot. It will still be skewed, though, which may offend the sensibilities of some.

Re: displya for bitx 40.

Hi Dave,

I've used this 3rd party display module with success with radiuno on a ubitx, should fit the bitx40 as well:?
It has a nice blue color with white text. The only thing I had to fix was to add a series resistor for the backlight as it's specified for 3.2V and not 5V. A 60ohm resistor in series with the backlight lead does the trick (see data sheet here:?? )

ubitx v6, refactored code

Jack and others,

I have uploaded the refactored code to??.
I will document this further in the next few days.?

If you want to understand ubitx code, start with ubitx.h.
If you want to undersand the GUI, start with nanogui.h

The main routines that control the radio are in the INO file. You should know the ubitx block diagram well before you wade into this.?

- The nano gui is now a standalone library of less than 5K that can be used to write GUIs with the ILI9341 displays. It is easily ported to any display that supports bitmap graphics with a touch screen. A touch calibration routine is provided as well.
- The morse reader is a compact code that encodes each morse letter as a single byte.?
- The ubitx.h has a list of all the variables and declared functions.?

As the production of BIX40 has stopped, perhaps no point in buying or fabricating an enclosre fot it, now.

Re: Templates for China EF01 Electronic Plastic Shell Project Case for a BITX40

Tim,
I do not have, or easy access to any one that has a 3D printer, so far I have seen Ebay "printed" panels for the Ef01 for $25-27 plus shipping a bit much for a legacy BIT40 considering that the EF01 case is $10 with shipping .
BTW The EF01 has two plastic panels is there any way of converting the "printed" files to a two dimensional format that I can print out on paper the mark on the plastic panels?
Best Regards.
