Re: BITX40 First version (Through hole type) - Wiring Up diagram required
?Amateur radio kits for BITX units parts ?The parts are for a BITX20, but with modification can be for any band. ?They also sell some bare boards, through hole type. ? I have one that is for 40 meters, but I will be using it for a BITX20. ?Hope this is what you might want. ?neater by far than the manhattan style, and more compact. ?Though, using 2 boards, it takes a bigger cabinet than Farhans BITX40 and uBITX radios. ?Wayne WA2YNE |
?Looking at two pictures, it looks to be a NANO with a TFT, maybe touch screen? ?Interesting, being as I just received two NANOs, though planned to use one to make a clone of a raduino. ?Maybe both, in the back of my mind. ?For a dummy load, I havea commercial grade 100-110 watt dummy load that I got on Ebay some years back. It uses an RF resistor mounted to a large heat sink, well worth what I paid for it. ?I do have to use a UHF to N adapter, as it has an N connector. ?Lots better than the Cantenna was. Lighter, no worry about spilled oil of whatever type. ?I used transformer oil in the one I built. MY brother may have used mineral oil in his, being as he was less likely to search for, and find a source for transformer oil. Mine did leak a teeny amount through the pressure vent, just enough to make an oil/dust mix, LOL. ?Anyway, I'd kinda like to build this mini dummy load with meter for QRP testing. |
Re: BITX40 First version (Through hole type) - Wiring Up diagram required
Thanks so much for the quick replies!
And thanks for the home-brew links. I'll read through those in the next couple of days. Ugly construction would be just as fun, so I'll probably go that route. I did notice there's a uBitx v5 - I presume I can find the schematic. It's been a while, and I don't have any of my old (homemade) bench equipment any more; but I do like hand populating a PCB, so a kit would be ideal. However, as I said, I'll go with ugly construction assuming there's enough info on proper layout, etc. to give me a reasonable chance at ending up with something that works. Thanks again - I'm so glad I stumbled onto the whole uBitx scene. I've been looking for a way to get back into amateur radio, and to start playing with micro-controllers. uBitx is perfect! mitch |
Re: BITX40 First version (Through hole type) - Wiring Up diagram required
Mitch I think that is the last thru-hole kit of a BITX transceiver.? It should be possible to add the Arduino, Si5351a, and LCD to one of these.? In earlier days of the BITX phenomena many of us built our own BITX transceivers using .? This involves standing thru-hole style components on-end above a sheet of non-etched PCB material.? You could do this and add the Arduino, Si5351a, and display as a front-panel.? Should not be too difficult and would allow you to test each section as it is finished.? Really, the large size (1206) SMD parts are not that bad to use even for a pair of 76 year old eyes, plus resistors and caps are really much less expensive than through-hole. You could also shrink the board size a bit, since Farhan made it oversized to allow for experimenting. If the Gerbers could be edited, I think there would be some interest in the board. Jack, W8TEE

Hello Joe ! Just have a look? there : I've bought one for my 70W PA. quite good stuff. Regards Olivier. Le?mar. 14 mai 2019 ¨¤?17:44, Joe Puma <kd2nfc@...> a ¨¦crit?:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI just grabbed that 70 watt kit. Waiting for a heat sync and would need to get some multi band filtering. I think I saw something on eBay I¡¯ll get. What are you using for filtering ?Curt?Joe Kd2nfc? On May 14, 2019, at 8:47 AM, Curt M. <Kc3hjp@...> wrote:

Re: Flrig and uBitX not connecting
Update: I did download and update the driver to CH340, but that made no difference. Memory Manager still works, but Flrig does not.
However, i loaded WSJT-X and set it for the same COM port and as an FT817 and it controls and reads the rig fine, so the problem is only with Flrig. =Vic= |

Since it's not a kit, it's subject to FCC certification. Is the amp certified? Jack, W8TEE

Although it is not a kit, I picked up one of these at a hamfest. Been having good luck with it, gets good reports. I dialed back the uBitx output to around 3.5W on 40 meters and get about 40W out. Jay |
Re: Inexpensive eBay Amplifier Kits
I built the 70w version of that amplifier. ?The instructions are pretty much just a schematic with a few mistakes on it but it's not very hard to figure out what goes where. ?I made some initial contacts with it connected to my FT-817 and a 40m filter on the output. ?A few people said that my audio was a little distorted. ?After doing some searching online it's been suggested to increase the bias by 1v. ?I have not tried that yet but the guy's reasoning sounded logical. ?It's a fun little kit to build.
With the Bitx radios you would have to get just a little creative to trigger the TX/RX relay but that shouldn't be very difficult. Curt M. |

I don't require an apology, so not accepted. Was nothing wrong with the photo that I saw. Accidents happen. Like my HP laptop keyboard. If I begin typing too fast and pressing the keys too hard windows begin popping open or weird characters begin showing on the screen that I didn't type. I need to stop talking about this lousy laptop and transfer everything to my other laptop, a Dell Latitude. Nice looking Gent. Wish I could say the same for me. I look in the mirror every morning... ugh.
