Re: BITX40 First version (Through hole type) - Wiring Up diagram required
Jack Purdum
Really, the large size (1206) SMD parts are not that bad to use even for a pair of 76 year old eyes, plus resistors and caps are really much less expensive than through-hole. You could also shrink the board size a bit, since Farhan made it oversized to allow for experimenting. If the Gerbers could be edited, I think there would be some interest in the board. Jack, W8TEE

I would LOVE a through-hole pcb + bag of parts version of the latest uBITX (how I miss the old Heathkit days...)! Is there any possibility of such a thing? All I can find are sold-out kits of older versions. mitch |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI just grabbed that 70 watt kit. Waiting for a heat sync and would need to get some multi band filtering. I think I saw something on eBay I¡¯ll get. What are you using for filtering ?Curt?Joe Kd2nfc? On May 14, 2019, at 8:47 AM, Curt M. <Kc3hjp@...> wrote:

Re: Flrig and uBitX not connecting
Update: I did download and update the driver to CH340, but that made no difference. Memory Manager still works, but Flrig does not.
However, i loaded WSJT-X and set it for the same COM port and as an FT817 and it controls and reads the rig fine, so the problem is only with Flrig. =Vic= |

Since it's not a kit, it's subject to FCC certification. Is the amp certified? Jack, W8TEE

Although it is not a kit, I picked up one of these at a hamfest. Been having good luck with it, gets good reports. I dialed back the uBitx output to around 3.5W on 40 meters and get about 40W out. Jay |
Re: Inexpensive eBay Amplifier Kits
I built the 70w version of that amplifier. ?The instructions are pretty much just a schematic with a few mistakes on it but it's not very hard to figure out what goes where. ?I made some initial contacts with it connected to my FT-817 and a 40m filter on the output. ?A few people said that my audio was a little distorted. ?After doing some searching online it's been suggested to increase the bias by 1v. ?I have not tried that yet but the guy's reasoning sounded logical. ?It's a fun little kit to build.
With the Bitx radios you would have to get just a little creative to trigger the TX/RX relay but that shouldn't be very difficult. Curt M. |

I don't require an apology, so not accepted. Was nothing wrong with the photo that I saw. Accidents happen. Like my HP laptop keyboard. If I begin typing too fast and pressing the keys too hard windows begin popping open or weird characters begin showing on the screen that I didn't type. I need to stop talking about this lousy laptop and transfer everything to my other laptop, a Dell Latitude. Nice looking Gent. Wish I could say the same for me. I look in the mirror every morning... ugh. The design is mostly done, but I want to do this one with some decent documentation, and schematics too. Thanks again. 73 Nick VK4PP |

What kind of antenna are you using? My own experience was that with a long-wire antenna there was lots of BC interference. (I am about 10 km from an AM broadcast transmitter site, with more of them slightly further away). When I switched to using a dipole for 40 m or my multi-band tuned vertical, all the broadcast interference disappeared. 73, ... Martin VE3OAT |
