Re: Ted

Which version of that is that, that favors CW use? That's not historically my main mode, but I'm starting to go that direction. Thanks.

Edit away! I think you can bring the tune step down to 1 but no worries. I actually use another version modified to favor cw use. I'll keep this on my dev rig so I can help contribute to the board. ?

Re: Ted

Hey, Sam.

I exchanged the background photos for the main screen and the frequency manual entry screen(s) for copies that I'd sharpened up a bit with Infranview, and hid the last digit as only a personal preference [considering we can't tune to that resolution anyway].? There is also some slight spacing and resizing of the Mode buttons and another button or two elsewhere.... again, just personal fat-fingered preferences.?

The last digit in the display can come back in a heartbeat if wanted.? I await your review.??

Thanks,

Kevin, I just posted files under the topic "Ted".?

Re: Had audio, then no audio - looks like Q72 dead?

I would agree that there is a defect in the design on that case. I have a case with a 2.8" display and the 3 receptacles are too close to the bottom.

First applied tape to the bottom of the case and then went over the board with a fine nippers to remove all the points then added 3 layers of tape and finally went about 4 months without a short. It appears when the jacks are plugged into the receptacle. The holes on new parts should be moved up a small amount.

The Indian case is well constructed with good accessibility and construction but the layout leaves something to be desired. Don't get me started on having the main switch on the back.

Worst case, if i can't? fix the AGC, or restore the board, I will have to buy another V5 and drop it in... i will have a spare raduino.? Hey i guess i found my limitations as far as building is concerned.? I am not as good as I used to be in building.? No worries. Just accept it and progress.?
But not giving up without further testing and evaluation.?

I can confirm? proper switch wiring according to your input. 12v at the AGC board is confirmed.?
Yes I had to use a dremel to cut the trace. I did use a small flat blade to expose the copper at the solder points, however. I will solder a wire from A7 on the raduino to the s meter pad to complete the install.?

Re: Kit projects AGC install - extremely frustrated.

Looking at your traces I am concerned you may have been a bit to aggressive and damaged them. I hope you did not use a grinding tool. a Flathead or a light hand with a razor blade would have done the job.

Re: Kit projects AGC install - extremely frustrated.

The middle image is the correct one. We had a issue and corrected it, sorry about the confusion. As for the audio issue could be two fold with incorrect switch wire-up and you may need to find the sweet spot in the RF gain pot they can be touchy.

Sam,?

I loaded your earlier afternoon versions and, in the short moments prior to leaving for a HS baseball gave, it looked good. The o-scope graphs are right where they belong :)? Great work!

Sure, will check out the late-evening version and upload.??

Teamwork at its best.??

Re: NEXTION DISPLAY UPDATES For KD8CEC ver 1.094 up

I would appreciate some help please.? I have a 3.5 inch nextion and I am trying to find a combination of .tft file and Dr Ian KD8CEC's firmware that will work together. The .tft files for the 3.5" nextion that Ian distributes only have a small screen image that occupies the top left portion of the screen.? KN4UD has modified .hmi files for the 3.5" nextion, but he states that they are for version 1.092 of the CEC firmware.? Now I can not find version 1.092 in Ian's archive - only later versions.? When I try one of these with the KN4UD .tft file the nextion displays the error, "Resource filebinver is error? 99 47".? Does any one know what this signifies?
Thanks and vy 73,

Kit projects AGC install - extremely frustrated.

Kelly Mabry

Hi everyone this is Kelly. Trying to install the kit-projects AGC Board and I have a question. Which one of these diagrams is right for the switch? Also I'm having trouble with the install. I am getting 12 volts to the board. However I am having issues. Now where I have I had great audio, I have barely nothing with the audio gain turned wide open. I have not tried to attach the s meter wiring yet. All other wiring connected. I fear its mis wired at the switch not sure.

Re: An correction about SD card layout

On Mac OS you can set finder to show hidden files are you can just go in a terminal window an cd to the directory (typically this will be /Volumes/NONAME unless you gave the SD a volume name). While in the directory you can type 'ls -a' to show all files.??

And if you write using MacOS, it will definitely store "hidden files" on the flash and you will get the multiple file error message. Although there is supposed to be a way to see all hidden files on a Mac, it was far easier for me to slip it into a PC and find those files and delete them....

Re: Had audio, then no audio - looks like Q72 dead?

To bring closure to this thread...

replaced the 3904 discrete transistor with surface mount? and all is good. Volume is sufficent (into a 16 ohm speaker) that I am not sure I would patch in any audio amp.

Discovered that the "squeeze" on case = "no output" was related to the amateurradiokits.in front end board grounding out against? the case (where the handle attaches). No big deal, some grinding and a piece of electrical tape to prevent the grounding.

Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

Sounds like "Digger" (AB3XU) is a few notches more experienced. However, I do have a HP 8640b, HP652A and HP 3400A that I can apply on the issue if necessary. Just will need "baby step" instructions.?

Be happy to help. Your project kits are well appreciated!

Hey Sam, I really like this edition of the ubitx Nextion display. I really like your layout, thank you so much.? Dont have the standalone signal analyzer in yet, but the fw updated via xloader AOK and my display is awesome! Great Job. Many thanks.

Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

Correct! Though it may be more then a week or 2 still, My day job has been leaving me less time then desired to work on this. that aside I want to believe that not all v4's have this issue for as many AGC's as we have sold we have gotten maybe 8-12 of you that have spoken out about issues with a v4 board. That being said even with the "Issues" the radio still works as expected the AGC action is just lack luster compared to what it should be!

If you want to verify it on your board you can run the +12V,GND, and audio in lines. Wire up the switch put it in either on position and measure the Voltage on S-Meter pad. if you get a decent voltage on a S9+ station odds are it will work fine for you. Or just wait if you dont trust your self to test it this way the boards can be finicky to unsolder due to the nature of castellations. So use your judgement based on your skill!
