Re: Firmware update sketch problem

Vaugh,

it seems you have included the libaries for Adafruit Circuit Playground by
mistake. These libraries should NOT be included in the sketch!
In your sketch, look for following lines:
#include <Adafruit_CircuitPlayground.h>
#include <Adafruit_Circuit_Playground.h>
and if you find them, delete them!
Alternatively, download the original sketch and install it from scratch.

Also make sure that in your IDE, the correct board is selected under Tools
=> Board.
It should be "Arduino Nano", NOT "Adafruit Circuit Playground"!

KD8CEC - Nextion Display - IAN questions

I have read all posts on this topic, but can't find the answer to my problem which is that raduino output does not fill the entire area of the nextion display.
I have a 3.5 inch enhanced nextion.
I copied ubtix_35_E.tft to a 16 GB microSD card.? No other files were on this card. I put the microSD card into the card holder of the nextion.? I powered up the nextion, which then uploaded the .tft file successfully.
I powered down the nextion and removed the microSD card.? I used Xloader to upload the hex file UBITX_CEC_V1.200_NX_S.hex to the raduino.? It uploaded OK.? (I made sure the upload speeds in Xloader and in the com port properties were identical).
I connected the nextion to the raduino and powered it on.? Up came Ian's uBITX screen, but it only occupied the top left corner of the display.
I am obviously doing something wrong.? Can someone please put me on the right path?
Thanks, Kevin VK3DAP / ZL2DAP

Re: ubitx spurs? Added LPF

The LPF as I have understood is aimed to remove some specific spurs.
At 21.3mhz without the filter you should see a quite strong 23.7Mhz (21.3+23.7=45). If you don't even detect it, it means the LPF does its work marvellously. The other spurs you see, might be to another issue, if any.

Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

Sorry missed the questions in the photograph.

1) Off and Ground are the same. To turn the circuit off you need to ground common. This removes the audio input to the circuit, and thusly turns off the AGC. This was marked this way in part due to what is in answer 3. 2) The official Wire up instructions say that Yellow is VolHigh, That is what our documentation is based on. 3) the D designations are in that single photo as it is a clip out of the schematic. The prefix was used for clarity when reading the schematic. The image was copied from the schematic and used with out editing. Yes D_Com and Common are on the same Net.

Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

Hey Digger, Thanks for the feed back. So you are actually the second person to reach out to us about this. We realized this afternoon that the documentation was in error. I supplied david with the wiring information incorrectly. I had the switch upside down in my install DOH!

The simple fix is to flip the switch over, It is correct with the notch facing down. The directions being supplied going forward have the information fixed. With an adjusted wire up to solve the issue. Our sincerest apologies.

As for the low S-Meter issue. What version uBitx do you have? Is it a v4? It was brought to my attention after production started that the v4 has a lower audio drive then the v3 models. The original circuit this was based off of is tuned for the v3's I am actively working on a fix for this. Your numbers are actually super helpful.

Re: Kit-Projects ND6T Ubitx AGC

Hey,

I've installed the uBITX AGC board per the instructions and it just doesn't seem like its working correctly. I feel like I've gone round circles trying to make sense of it all.

In part I wonder if some kits were shiped with a lot of switches that are configured differently? I've attached a drawing of continuity checks of the supplied switch and it doesn't seem to make sense with the documentation.

I've also tried to understand the logic of the switch based on schematics I've found on ND6T's website and can't figure it out. Is there a schematic available for this particular board? I think a lot of my questions would be answered with a schematic.

Without going too far down the rabbit hole, here are two points to begin with:

* AGC is off with the switch in the up position (NOT down). This was determined by measuring the voltage on the S-METER Output; it drops to 0.0 volts with the switch in the up position.

* The voltage measurement at S-METER Output on the AGC board is very low:
??? -73dBm (S9):??? 0.02V
??? -53dBm (S9+10): 0.25
??? -63dbm (S9+20):? 0.78

??? This is using a Sark-110 for an input; the level was verified with a Siglent SSA 3021X. The Sark's lowest output is -73dBm. All measurements were made with S-METER Output attached to A7 of the Raduino.

Also attached is a drawing of how it's all wired up.

Re: ubitx spurs? Added LPF

I'd say C212 and L7 form one matching network, C214 and L5 form another matching network.

As Curt noted, the 0.1uF caps at C211 and C215 are extremely large at 45mhz, pretty much 0 ohms AC impedance.
They are there to prevent any DC across the quartz crystal, which could permanently degrade it.

So it’s looks like I got to the bottom of the problem where RF seemed to be getting into the delay of the CW and causing chattering in my auto tuner plus a hiss in the speakers. ?

It was due to the IF out pan-adaptor wire I installed and when the wire In rear was plugged into SDR it seemed to allow RF to get in. ?I also changed the resistor I was using as a buffer and replaced it wit a 22pf. It seems not to effect the circuit better then the resistor. ?

Anyway I added 3 ferrites to the coax piece from my tap to the BNC connector on then back of radio. It’s doing a good job keeping the RF out, that’s what it needed. I also went through an exercise of replacing all wires with shielded cables, which all helps to keep the RF gremlins at bay. ?

I ordered some small ferrite rings to wrap any misc single wires but my problem seems to be resolved. ?

Can someone tell me what C215 does? Mine went bad on me from attaching the IF out for SDR so for a while I was getting poor performance until I replaced it. Just curious what that part dose right before it goes into the filter. ?Now with the new, part my SSB audio is peaking to full wattage nicely.?
