Re: bitx40 displays version, hums, but does not receive
#bitx40help
#bitx40

Have you tried adjusting the contrast trimmer on the Raduino yet?I have and this works, thanks.? Should've been first on my list. Unplug the raduino and connect to your pc, if you still cant read the display there is an adjustable pot on the raduino give that a tweak to get the data on screen.?Refit the raduino and ensure you have suppy to the motherboard. When connected to my computer, I can read the display just fine.? All the raduino contacts appear to be properly fitted and there is power to the motherboard. I believe the display issue to be a red herring.? The main problem is that the "Raduino v1.27.7" screen never goes away and I don't get any reception, just a kind of "dirty" hum (for lack of better words).? No clicking when I turn the VFO, either.? The hum is affected by the volume pot. cmh |

Cellphone interference to BITX40
John Norris
I had my BITX40 spread out on a breadboard and powered up and operating.
I wanted to take a photo of it with my iphone. As I moved the iphone to within about 18 inches of the BITX40 to take a picture I started hearing?loud squealing noises from the speaker connected to the BITX40. Your smartphone may be a source of interference to your BITX. John Norris KI4UCN |
PSK 31 not decoding
Ubitx V4 updated to CEC 1.08?
PSK 31 will not decode in any PSK software? Fldigi,HRD or Digipan? I can decode CW in all 3 ok. I tried using Easy Digi with or without No difference in either. ? I had the same problem with Stock software V4.03 as received new. ?I am using WIN 10 internal soundcard. Transmit is a little low but? ubixt? seems to work fine. Any suggestions where to look for problem? Thanks Ed Blake |
RF Preamp - Attenuator
Woody
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMy uBITX has always been a little deaf (couldn't figure out why) so I built a RX front-end addition.? Also wanted AGC so it became an amplifier followed by an attenuator. ? As with prior AGC / RF Gain mods, it inserted in the RX antenna trace (Ripley, et.al.). ? As built, it provides a maximum gain of ~ 8 db (+12db from mmic - 4 db from atten) with a 3.5 db NF, which can then be attenuated to more than (about) 50 db down.? Have not measured exactly...?? It really wakes up the RX!?Attenuator Control:? >5 volts for minimum attenuation, approaching zero volts for maximum attenuation (at 22 to 5 ma, depending on attenuation setting).? For manual control would use a potentiometer and voltage follower for current buffer... I made no attempt to minimize current draw.? It is a bit of a pig, consuming 70 ma + control current (22ma). Also, no attempt was made to minimize the board physical size... It uses a MAR3 SM mmic followed by a HSMP-3816 pin diode array attenuator.? If anyone is interested, I have a to-scale PDF for the board layout, a parts placement image, full resolution schematic, etc.? I can ZIP up a package... Currently working on an audio derived AGC amp/controller for this thing.? Have it sort of working, but not happy with the performance yet.? Sure would like to have some Plessey SL621C ICs.? I have an ancient homebrew rig that uses one and it is great!? So far, It looks like this: ? 73, Woody --

I now understand I should swap out the relays but there is still part of my original question.
I asked if there are any mods that need to be done to the current version you are shipping Is there a list somewhere or or is the rest of the V4 ready to use? Thanks in advance. -- Lee - N9LO? "I Void Warranties" ? |
Tuning MBITX
1) When we followed Tune up instructions for adjustment of the Power Amplifier Bias - All currents measure ok by instructions up until speaking into microphone, the current did not increase as per instructions, Can you help?
2) Audio output extremely low? 3) 10k and 2.2k resistors in parts list not mentioned in wire up diagram, where do they go can you help? Regards Will Bennett VK4WBX |

Re: JackAl display delivery times
#ubitx
Hi I concur with Jack about capacitive screens being less precise. I have a tablet with capacitive screen it it some times jumps to conclusions with out me touching it. I have also noticed it doesn't like RF but that may be just mine. Anyway eagerly awaiting the boards. Many thanks for the work and effort put in to the designers and testers.

try to clear the memory locations before loading stock firmware, once you had used cec firmware.. thereis one .ino that clears eeprom locations. regards sarma ?vu3zmv On Wed, 12 Dec 2018 8:53 AM d balfour <davesters@... wrote: Have you tried it with the stock firmware? If you hold the function button down for a couple of seconds it locks the frequency. Per chance did you do that? There is a small lock symbol on the display. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDid you / Can you check for voltage
transition at the Raduino pins 7 & 8??? If not present there,
look at the wiring to the encoder.? If present on 6 & 7,
sounds like a Raduino problem (maybe ;)?

I have checked the messages here for this problem and have followed some of the others suggestions by installing the new CEC software. On power up, the display shows 7150khz. Turning the encoder in either direction does not change the frequency. I have checked the encoder and I get the 5V to 0V transitions on ENC A and ENC B. pressing the encoder knob in, I get the "set tune step?" however, I am unable to make any changes. Transmit and receive seem to be functioning OK on the 7150khz frequency that is displayed. HELP??? --
