Re: End Fed antennas w/ uBITX

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThin black wire is really hard to see. ?I struggle to get the sun in just the right position to be able to shoot photographs of people can at least SEE my 3 antennas.... ?300ohm window line is fairly ?hard to see, also. ? I have made insulators from quarter inch plastic stiff tubes before.... left over from medical supplies.?
braided fishing line can be had up to 80 pounds strength, and it¡¯s flat impossible to see, if you buy dark green. ? I use bright orange to even have a prayer of finding it ?after I shoot it over trees.
Run it to a balun at the back of your house. Instant near zero-loss center fed , off center-fed, whatever you want Antenna.
If you want vertical, run it along side the trunk of a good tree. ? Or put in a really proud flagpole! ?

Re: uBITx V3 Stuck in Transmit
#ubitx
I had a similar problem in that when I keyed the transmitter it would stay on. But was intermittent. I found I could tap the relay and it would turn off. Although sometimes it would continue to transmit with a high swr. I tried chokes but the relay was bad. I could tap on the relay with screwdriver handle and it would go back to normal. Also weirdly it had no power on 30meters.?
A new relay fixed all the problems. It was less than a dollar out of china. |

It's unfortunate she had you take down that other antenna. If it's high enough the neighbors won't even see it, especially on a cloudy day. ? ??/g/BITX20/message/24965 So, exactly what do you have in the way of a crappy EFHW, and what matching network? Why is it crappy? Then I'll know what not to do. If you want stealth, that's a good way to go. Some skinny wire, perhaps galvanized steel for strength, and a matchbox on the side of the house are much harder to see than coax going up to the middle of a dipole. Dear Sunil, Thank you so much for the info and pics of case assembly, interface pcb etc.Exactly what I required to complete the USB link from the session to the outside world.Having such fun assembling the rig and the only difference is that I have used the
pcb for the Jack ports.Cheers. Ian M0IDR

I'm sure others will chime in but I remember Ryan Flowers doing a lot of experimenting with different bands on the BITX40 on his blog.? Search his site for 20M.? I think Don did a band conversion too.

I think everyone here knows that, when working QRP, the antenna system is a HUGE factor in one's success, or lack thereof. The good news: I'm fortunate in one manner, in that I am surrounded by 80' trees on almost 3 acres. The bad news: The XYL will not abide ANY antenna that is visible. She voted this one down: My antenna situation poses a true dilemma (i.e., two choices, both bad), in that I really enjoy QRP work, but with my crappy EFHW, I really need more power to be effective. So, any time I see an antenna article that might even hint at being stealthy, I'm reading it. Indeed, I would like to see more posts about people who are successfully using their ?BITX with stealthy antennas. When JackAl is done, a mag loop and controller are in my future. Jack, W8TEE

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMaybe it was a bit off topic? ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of ieand@... ? I really fail to see a serious problem with this thread. Re: uBITX HF transceiver and blue MBITX metal case.
Hi, Jim
With regard to the demise of RS-232, it's important to remember that these same UARTS support RS-422 and RS-485 multi-drop. These protocols are still in wide use (particularly RS-485) in industrial settings because of robustness, simplicity and economy as compared with (for example) Ethernet in the same setting. USB is strictly point-to-point and, while offering good bandwidth, is greatly distance limited compared with 422/485. ?USB is also generally lacking the fully isolated solutions that are often required between "unfriendly" components. For example, if you want to control something slightly smart up on a tower 500 ft away, isolated and slew rate limited RS-422 is the way to go. USB won't work and copper Ethernet's distance limit rules it out.. Fiber would be nice but gets pricy and complex - and you still likely need power wires. In short, while most common applications of RS-232 can be replaced by USB (as long as you have some real smarts at both ends), the RS-422/485 applications are still out of reach. Just my opinions, of course. 73, Paul K2AYZ |

Perhaps I've missed it somehow, let me know if that's the case as it would be quite handy. Perhaps you are using some email reader that allows you to reject a thread. Unfortunately, not everyone does. Regardless of whether I can kill a thread, I think the ability to move a discussion that large numbers of forum members would just as soon not see would be a real plus on occasion. Unlike an email exchange (also an alternative), anyone with any interest at all could follow the conversation in that other forum.? Or sample it occasionally when they have time to kill. Jerry? I dont know if you fixed this problem. Here are some ideas. Try a shielded wire for microphone inside the enclosure. You MUST use shielded wire for the mic cable outside as it may pick up TX RF. Solder a 1000pf cap across the socket. Formula I followed in the 70s for mic mixers was to insulate the jack from chassis. You could screw on an acrylic sheet piece to your panel and mount the mic jack on it.. but you need to enlarge the chassis hole so that the jack does not ground. Raj At 28/07/2018, you wrote:
