uBitx schematic

I'm kind of new to the BITX, but have a BITX40 that works really well.? My question is:? Where can I find the schematic and related data needed to build a uBITX??

Thanks

Re: Connecting Kenwood KMC 30 to bitx /uBitx #parts

I'm using a Baofeng on my bitx40, I need a different option on my ubitx as the two independent jacks (3.5 and 2.5mm, a precise distance apart) sharing wires between mic, speaker, and PTT is making soldering a gigantic pain.?

Single panel mount RG45s are available in female to female, or buy a female to male, cut off the connector and you have 1' leads to play with for $6?on Prime. The female to male mount from inside the case, usually sold for Ethernet applications.?

The $20?"quality" Baofeng mic and two $8?jacks vs $35?Kenwood mic and $6?Ethernet jack, I hope the Kenwood is a viable option.?

The smallest connector would be MMCX but you really don't want that (the connector typically used on GPS modules.)

Re: Small question about LCD mounting

Tom et al :?

The decals for my BITX40 were done using Ink-Jet Waterslide Decal paper.?
The end result is similar to decals that we all probably remember putting on plastic
model kits as kids.?

I do this for all of my projects and I found that the cheapest way to do this is to buy the paper
on eBay from China. What you want is the stuff with the clear (transparent backing) that comes in A4 sizing. There are sources for this stuff in letter size from the US but costs to ship to destinations outside of the US?is expensive. Every ink-jet printer sold in North American can handle A4 sized paper so it doesn't matter.?

The procedure is pretty simple. You use your favourite graphic/text editor to create and print a sheet of decals (you want some extras for each decal in case one rips during installation). After printing I recommend letting the ink dry for at least 12 hours. The sheet then gets a?couple of coats of clear Krylon spray to fix it?(remember ink-jet ink is water-soluble) and is allowed to completely dry overnight.?
I also spray the panels that the decals will be installed on with a thin coat of clear Krylon as it gives?
a better result and makes it less likely that you will tear a decal during installation. Everything has to
be very dry before you attempt to install the decals.?

The installation procedure simply involves cutting out the decals and immersing them individually in
a small bowl of warm water for about 20 seconds. Remove the decal from the water with tweezers and then ?then slide off of the paper backing onto?the panel with the help of a tooth-pick,
which can be used to position it.

You then carefully blot out the excess water & air bubbles with a tiny piece of paper towel. ?Repeat for all of the decals and then set it aside to thoroughly dry overnight. Once it is very dry you want to spray a couple of very thin coats of clear Krylon?over the top to keep the decals in place.

You can print in whatever colours your inkjet printer will support, which unfortunately normally doesn't
include white. ?
I usually do several prints on plain paper, cutting out the paper decals and?
moving them around on the drilled front and rear panels to get an idea of placement and making
sure I am happy with the fonts and sizing. The last print is on the actual decal paper, but only
once I am satisfied. As I mentioned previously since you have to print a full sheet of decals anyway
it is a good idea to replicate individual decals a few times on the sheet so you have spares
in case one gets torn during installation. ?

Cheers?

Michael VE3WMB?

P.S. You can get Waterslide Decal Paper with white backing instead of transparent.?
This would work on a smoked plexiglass enclosure, however the end result will look like?
stickers because of the white backing, which will be visible.?

I don't know why hams are "stuck" on the inferior PL-259
plug and SO-239 socket. Well, I do. It's because manufacturers
keep sticking them on the back of radios and we don't insist
that they stop using them. For a small connector, I would
prefer SMA. BNC is "OK" but the bayonets wear out if you
you connect/disconnect them enough times. For a "large"
connector, the N connector is superior in so many ways.

You would need an RG45 case mount female connector and would also have to wire it for ptt/mic etc in the case. Just me but I wouldn't use it for the bitx.

uBitx Wireless Memory Management #ubitx

?

I¡¯m thinking of replacing the Radino Arduino with the EPS-32S chip (WiFi and Bluetooth) for memory and memory group creation, editing and recall. The control rf is passed through seams in your uBitx chassis (if you haven¡¯t put copper tape everywhere!).?

?

I¡¯ve never used this chip and I wonder about:

Power consumption, Arduino IDE and code compatibility, rf hash. Or any horror stories.

?

Here is a video of my implementation (using another chip) on a Ten-Tec QRP rig. Vid is only 55 seconds and NO TALKING.

Hmmm. Voice control with google voice assistant?

Chip should be about $8 China $11 US

Banggood has the case shown in post 35500 for $10:

I have two of them and they are worth the money.

Google "clear printable sticker paper."

Re: It's alive!

That looks good. What do you plan for the open space (or was that done for front-panel control space)? I¡¯m considering building a linear power supply or perhaps a LiIon pack into the box.

uBITX AGC

Rod Self

Hi All,

I have a uBITX on order. I want to install AGC. In anticipation, I modeled Farhan's suggested AGC circuit from 13/11/16.

However, in the model it appears the gate voltage to the FET never gets near the 2 volt level that would turn the 2n7002 on.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

160m on ubitx??

Only another lpf and code changes required? Is there a spare uc pin to control some relays?

Are there other considerations?

I am building the BITX20 with the kit from Sunil.? I glued two T37-6 cores together and wound 40 turns.? The inductance measures 10.06 uH.? What should be the correct inductance for the VFO?? (The circuit diagram does not say.)

Re: BITX20 Ver3C SBL 1SV149 Orientation #bitx20help

Thanks Sarma for kindly publishing the datasheet.? However, I had already looked it up and my problem was in my interpretation of it.? I can follow vacuum tube and IC diagrams (I know which way round the pins go in sequence) however, the two pin varicap diagram got me stumped.? I solved the problem by unsoldering the varicap from the board and testing it with a DVM.? The orientation which conducted led me to believe that the pin attached to the red DVM probe was the anode which should go to the ground plane.? When I popped it back on the board with this orientation, the bevelled edge now faces the 15 pF trimmer, as per the older photo of the board containing the MV209. Thanks again for your help - I really appreciate your time and effort.
