Re: 3.5" inch TFT LCD Module 480x320 For arduino uno R3 mega2560 board
Jack Purdum
Yes, it does have an SD socket. I do use it on the antenna analyzer project, as it allows up to 9000 scans to be saved and later downloaded in CSV format. That format can be used to import the data into graphics programs, spreadsheets, etc. It works well and is easy to code. The Arduino SD library is all that is needed. Is that the case? If so, is it usable?

Almost finished, for now...
Just got the case finished and am happy with the results. So far I've burned my finger, pinched my palm with pliers, smoked a pot (10-turn), and blew through 3 fuses trying to measure voltage. On the other hand:
Still have a couple of questions though.
Thanks for everyone's help so far! It's been a long while since I've actually used my EE knowledge and it's slowly coming back, just not all of it... 73, Brian, K2BRZ |
Re: shipping options, raduino, source code and website updates
Hi Michael I have never paid any custom charges if shipped via mail. I've never shipped by courier except from Digikey, so can't comment on that. If you order from outside Canada, ask the shipper/seller to mark package as "Amateur Radio Parts" or "Amateur Radio Kit". This will move the package through customs faster. Amateur Radio 'stuff' is duty/customs free up to a certain amount. 73 Ken VA3ABN On Thu, May 11, 2017 at 7:17 PM, Michael Babineau <mbabineau.ve3wmb@...> wrote:

Re: shipping options, raduino, source code and website updates
Just curious if any Canadian Hams have used the 1 week DHL shipping option for the BITX40 recently ?? I am wondering if you were hit by any additional customs and carrier handling fees on top of the $10 shipping. I have had bad experiences in the past with items shipped via courier from the USA to Canada (UPS and Fed EX) as the carriers charge a customs clearance fee of something like $35 regardless of the value of the package.? I would be certainly be willing to pay an extra $10 to get a BitX40 in a week, but it is not worth it if I end up paying $45 more than for the regular shipping option. Cheers Michael VE3WMB? |

Re: New Telecommunications Reg in India
This is a a little confusingly posted. Let me explain the background...? A couple of radio hams from bombay and calcutta noticed that the ham frequencies were being used by others. Investigations revealed that frequency squatters weren't licensed to use these or any frequencies at all. They were using the cheap Baufeng handsets that could be ordered online from aliexpress and . They were being used by logistics and event managers. Subsequently, the WPC issued a notice to these websites to stop selling these transceivers to non-hams in India. So, in a nutshell, here is the crux: 1. The notification is to not export any transceivers into india without a valid license copy. This is an iteration of our existing rules. The websites were asked to verify the license of the purchaser before selling them Amatuer frequency equipment. HF Signals does not sell VHF/UHF transceivers. It sells kits. There is no restriction on selling any kits or components that maybe used to make wireless equipment. Indeed, this is the very thing that Govt of India's Department of Science and Technology has been trying to promote for years. On our end, we verify that the boards are only shipped to those who have a valid license. We do this by cross checking the call-sign of the purchaser on to match with the shipping address. In case, they don't we ask them to confirm the different address. I personally believe that there are easier ways for people to communicate securely across the international borders than using the BITX. It is difficult to work any station consistently as it. You'd think that any head of SPECTRE would actually rely on a BITX board to take over the world? They will pick up their samsung and call with Telegram? - f On Thu, May 11, 2017 at 10:29 PM, Larry Smith <815cpu@...> wrote:

Right, Having read the replies, I deleted all the bits and pieces i had downloaded.... Then started afresh, I can safely say I have it cracked, V1.09 is loaded and running. Message on display says "UNCALIBRATED" and the frequency above. Looks like i am in for a busy weekend. Thanks for the little nudge. Theres one thing about this hobby... you never stop learning. Hi Phil, Normally compilation errors are the result of libraries missing or not in the right place.? Can you post the exact output you received on the latest compilation failure? Also, the Wiki has some pretty good documentation on how to get started. ?/g/BITX20/wiki/Raduino-Topics Good luck. Ben On Thu, May 11, 2017 at 4:04 PM, philip yates <phil@...> wrote:

direct copy from Raduino V1.09 Sketch? ? ? The main chip which generates upto three oscillators of various frequencies in the ? ? Raduino is the Si5351a. To learn more about Si5351a you can download the datasheet ? ? from www.silabs.com although, strictly speaking it is not a requirment to understand this code. ? ? Instead, you can look up the Si5351 library written by Jason Mildrum, NT7S. You can download and ? ? install it from https://github.com/etherkit/Si5351Arduino to complile this file. ? ? Have a Raduino I wish to load the V1.09 sketch to, despite help and spending 2 evenings trying, apart from blink the damn sketch just will not load. I get various error messages... Compilation terminated, exit status 1, error compiling for board Arduino Nano. Just need a bit of help. Simple easy steps.? Soldering components and building things is my line, playing with loading programs is not my thing. Help.... Please. Phil |
Re: Raduino_v1.04 allowing 10-turn tuning pot for complete band coverage
Quick answer: Yes I'd put a 0.1uF cap on both ends of the tuning pot wire. ? One at the tuning pot and another at the Raduino end. ?Both are from signal to ground. ?Any RF picked up in that tuning signal wire can cause random jumps in VFO frequency. Re: New Telecommunications Reg in India
From the article: ?"our concern is that the powerful equipment can fall into wrong hands and be misused. More importantly, these two-way radios can tune into any frequency including confidential frequencies used by law enforcement agencies. They can be misused to listen to confidential wireless conversations" That cat has long since left the bag if lawful confidential wireless conversations are carried out in the clear on narrow band FM rigs. ?I agree that random individuals with 5 watts of RF can make communications difficult for authorized users of the spectrum, perhaps that is the primary beef of the amateur community there. ?And then they add this argument about receiving law enforcement communications because they know it will strike a chord with the powers that be. ? Alternately somebody selling amateur equipment doesn't like having to compete with ebay, if so these arguments may well be turned on the Bitx40. ?In which case we all pitch in to buy Farhan an airline ticket to Bolivia. Re: New Telecommunications Reg in India
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFunny that they'd enforce that rule against India (and possibly those Chinese HTs), but I have see it enforced at hamfests only a couple of times - and I was ticketed in 1980. For the first several years I had a ticket, the best I could do as far as a radio was already old CW stuff and a 2m mobile.? Sales to non-Hams drove the price of HF rigs way out of reach - even today, my 'best' HF rig is an old Alinco - I couldn't afford anything nicer or newer. When I finally DID get a rig (in the late 80s), I had to undo
some of the DUMBEST 'mods' you could imagine.? Eliminating ALC is
usually one of the first things a CBer does to an HF rig (after
making it so that they could use it on 11 meters). It's an old problem, and I agree with proof of license upon sale and wish it was enforced more.? However, having worked in a couple of radio shops (General Radiotelephone license too), I know that some of them (maybe a lot of them) regularly sell to unlicensed people and the prices they got made used rigs... impossible. I hope that they don't shut down the BITX radios.? Since the foreign broadcast on 40 has been so curtailed, I would love to put a 40m SSB rig in my car (I have the BITX-20, but it drifts so much in the first 30 minutes that I usually arrive at my destination before it's usable). My two cents... I just assumed that HF Signals would either have or acquire the proper license. The article does mention "high power" and "2M", which is not our concern. However, I still thought I would bring it to the attention of the group members in case it did impact them. Basically the problem is that some sellers are selling ham equipment to
non hams and creating a problem for us. The seller needs a license and they have to sell to a licensed buyer as per our rules. Go to Amazon.in and search for amateur radio / walkie talkie and see what you get! 2M will become the wild west!
