Re: Bitx40 Raduino V1.09 Sketch. Loading failure.

direct copy from Raduino V1.09 Sketch? ? ? The main chip which generates upto three oscillators of various frequencies in the ? ? Raduino is the Si5351a. To learn more about Si5351a you can download the datasheet ? ? from www.silabs.com although, strictly speaking it is not a requirment to understand this code. ? ? Instead, you can look up the Si5351 library written by Jason Mildrum, NT7S. You can download and ? ? install it from https://github.com/etherkit/Si5351Arduino to complile this file. ? ? NOTE: This sketch is based on version V2 of the Si5351 library. It will not compile with V1! |
Bitx40 Raduino V1.09 Sketch. Loading failure.

Have a Raduino I wish to load the V1.09 sketch to, despite help and spending 2 evenings trying, apart from blink the damn sketch just will not load. I get various error messages... Compilation terminated, exit status 1, error compiling for board Arduino Nano. Just need a bit of help. Simple easy steps.? Soldering components and building things is my line, playing with loading programs is not my thing. Help.... Please. Phil |
Re: Raduino_v1.04 allowing 10-turn tuning pot for complete band coverage
Quick answer: Yes I'd put a 0.1uF cap on both ends of the tuning pot wire. ? One at the tuning pot and another at the Raduino end. ?Both are from signal to ground. ?Any RF picked up in that tuning signal wire can cause random jumps in VFO frequency. Re: New Telecommunications Reg in India
From the article: ?"our concern is that the powerful equipment can fall into wrong hands and be misused. More importantly, these two-way radios can tune into any frequency including confidential frequencies used by law enforcement agencies. They can be misused to listen to confidential wireless conversations" That cat has long since left the bag if lawful confidential wireless conversations are carried out in the clear on narrow band FM rigs. ?I agree that random individuals with 5 watts of RF can make communications difficult for authorized users of the spectrum, perhaps that is the primary beef of the amateur community there. ?And then they add this argument about receiving law enforcement communications because they know it will strike a chord with the powers that be. ? Alternately somebody selling amateur equipment doesn't like having to compete with ebay, if so these arguments may well be turned on the Bitx40. ?In which case we all pitch in to buy Farhan an airline ticket to Bolivia. Re: New Telecommunications Reg in India
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFunny that they'd enforce that rule against India (and possibly those Chinese HTs), but I have see it enforced at hamfests only a couple of times - and I was ticketed in 1980. For the first several years I had a ticket, the best I could do as far as a radio was already old CW stuff and a 2m mobile.? Sales to non-Hams drove the price of HF rigs way out of reach - even today, my 'best' HF rig is an old Alinco - I couldn't afford anything nicer or newer. When I finally DID get a rig (in the late 80s), I had to undo
some of the DUMBEST 'mods' you could imagine.? Eliminating ALC is
usually one of the first things a CBer does to an HF rig (after
making it so that they could use it on 11 meters). It's an old problem, and I agree with proof of license upon sale and wish it was enforced more.? However, having worked in a couple of radio shops (General Radiotelephone license too), I know that some of them (maybe a lot of them) regularly sell to unlicensed people and the prices they got made used rigs... impossible. I hope that they don't shut down the BITX radios.? Since the foreign broadcast on 40 has been so curtailed, I would love to put a 40m SSB rig in my car (I have the BITX-20, but it drifts so much in the first 30 minutes that I usually arrive at my destination before it's usable). My two cents... I just assumed that HF Signals would either have or acquire the proper license. The article does mention "high power" and "2M", which is not our concern. However, I still thought I would bring it to the attention of the group members in case it did impact them. Basically the problem is that some sellers are selling ham equipment to
non hams and creating a problem for us. The seller needs a license and they have to sell to a licensed buyer as per our rules. Go to Amazon.in and search for amateur radio / walkie talkie and see what you get! 2M will become the wild west! Re: Bitx40 with rotary encoder + CW and C Programing Rant?
Somewhere around my home is a worn copy of a C programming guide book published by Que and written by some dude named Jack. It helped, as did K&R and a few others. Pick up several books by authors with different styles, and use the others to help understand what your primary author is talking about.
Remember Bryllcreem ads? "A little dab will do it." Studying our craft in small portions for a few minutes per day and letting your mind chew on it overnight has worked well for many of our peers. Your mileage may vary, etc., but please do stop and go do something else when the fun ceases and the study becomes drudgery, before your temper frays. Keep a notebook of your progress, whether your notes are in an electronic or print medium. Include references to your books in your notes of your experiments and results, both the successes and the 'what the heck did that do?' stuff. Ours is a hobby, for fun, and there is no rush to master a particular topic. Right now I'm having a blast learning some rudimentary Python to write simple scripts / macros / tools for some acquaintances who can't see very well or don't have the use of all ten fingers. Current project: Dell has a proprietary application to enable and disable their laptop touch pads and mouse buttons. I have not figured out a way to do it entirely from the keyboard and am tinkering with a routine to move the mouse cursor and click mouse buttons. See 'Automate the Boring Stuff with Python' by Al Sweigart if you're curious. Apologies for my meandering writing and off-topic material, but I believe we need to support each other in this amateur radio hobby, and that is most certainly relevant to this listserv. |

Re: uBITX - The worry over SMDs?
I have a hot air/soldering pencil rework station, and I can handle SMD components, but to tell the truth I would be all for a through-hole kit even if it meant more or larger boards. I am much more comfortable with through-hole, since if a component needs to be replaced or a mod needs to be made it is much easier working around the larger components without worrying as much about the ones around the one you are working with.
