Re: Bitx40 audio
I changed the 470 uf cap to 220 uf. In the headphones it does sound better. The real test is with a speaker later tonight. Looking at the LM386 app motes, the 1 nf and 10K is to increase bass response, which would explain why it didn't have any affect. 73 Ken On Mon, Nov 28, 2016 at 9:43 PM, Joel Caulkins caulktel@... Re: MY BITX40 arrived - thanks!

开云体育Jerry, ? Here is the body of the original post. ? Stuart ? For some months now, we have been working at a low cost, single board QRP SSB transceiver module based on the BITX design. So here is BITX transceiver module for $45. It is 7 MHz, 5 watt SSB transceiver board. Fully tested and working. Something that you can easily fit into a box/case of your choice to make that portable or base station rig. This is an all analog radio with sparkling receiver that takes just 150 ma current and transmitter that providers well over 5 watts of clean audio. Visit for details The price of $45 includes international shipping. For shipping related questions, you should write to hfsignals@.... The technical queries can be discussed here. - farhan |

开云体育Thanks for the info. I have started to build the DDS tonight. Hopefully will have ready to go by the weekend. Where is the blog? Mark K3MRK ? ? From: BITX20@... [mailto:BITX20@...]

Hi Mark, I confirm the drift problem, if you change the six resistor from 100 to 220 ohm this help realy in RX mode. But in TX mode the problem return mybe becauae the PA warm up all the PCB...and make difficult voice qso and impossibile the use with Digital modes. I decide to move to DDS, already Done some tests and it work well. You Can use also an external analog VFO if you want. More info on blog site of hack page.? 73 de ik8yfw Giuseppe. |

Anyone up for a BitX-Net?
Ok, now there's nearly enough of us around to *nearly* make a Net.
Regional, probably - unless you're perched on the coast of Maine, with a Log-Periodic pointed to the European continent, of course. I have officially achieved Transmit. Nice too - I had to back down my BFO frequency (as measured) by about 300 Hz just to get the audio right (tested with my Yaesu FT-897 listening via dummy load). I have a pesky short somewhere - in jiggling the board, there's something up around the PA power area, so before I run it up to 24VDC PA power, I'll have to suss that out. Thanks to M. Farhan and his collective, and the group. Mike Y, KM5Z Dallas, Texas |

Re: Bitx40 audio
Good stuff Joel. I am very pleased with the BItx40, even though the sound is bassy. I'll(you'll) will figure it out. I'm actually thing of making it into a 40/20 rig. Just getting used to the arduino code. 73 Ken On Mon, Nov 28, 2016 at 9:43 PM, Joel Caulkins caulktel@... [BITX20] <BITX20@...> wrote:

It should be written in Black ink on the PCB next to a #.

Re: Bitx40 audio
开云体育Well, I had to finally ask after many QSOs because nobody ever made a comment on my audio. As it turns out everybody thinks I'm on a "big rig", the audio reports are excellent using my homemade electret mic, built in a ink pen housing. I'm even growing accustom to the receive audio even though a little bassy. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the BitX40. Joel Caulkins KB6QVI On Nov 28, 2016, at 6:04 PM, Ken Chase chase8043@... Okay...at the risk of sounding stupid...again...where is everyone getting the serial number from? There's a small white square on the board with "38 16" on it, but there is a space between the two numbers. I just got my BITX40 a little over a week ago and the holiday has prevented me from hooking things up, so I can't comment on that. Those numbers don't seem right, so what am I missing? Re: Bitx40 audio
开云体育Ken, I did that also today and noticed no affect at all. I think the changes need to be made further up the audio chain before it gets to the amp. I just have too many irons in the fire to try anything, except I do check into a Net everyday with it. Joel Caulkins KB6QVI On Nov 28, 2016, at 5:18 PM, Ken Chase chase8043@... 开云体育I have another, just arrived, Bitx 40.? Hooked it up and works as it should, at least for receive.?
#67, the first, cannot hear a signal generator putting out 0 dBm? signal.? Running it on a 12 volt battery eliminated a lot of hash.
So I at least know the signal is not making it very far.

Do you have a nice strong power source? Like all high-gain LM386 circuits, the audio amp is prone to becoming an oscillator when starved of sufficient power.

PA Transformers for Bitx40
The photo on 'hfsigs' shows PA Transformers for Bitx40 made from toroid cores, but the schematics shows some 6 terminal TV balun binocular or something else - I do not know.
Could Farhan or someone else please give inductance values and bifilar turns for FT37-43 for the 3 stage transmission line transformers for BITX40 PA. Thank you Roy |
