Hendricks BITX20A kit
Ken Hough
I've just finished soldering up the PCB of the Hendricks BITX20A. Initial tests
have been encouraging. The has Rx been receiving signals even though the 20m band was rather quiet. No shortage of gain! Apart from tuning up the band pass filter, I've not had time to tune the rest of the system. So although I have heard a few of SSB stations, I couldn't resolve them very well. Anyway, I haven't yet got the fine tuning pot connected. Bias levels to the PA driver and output stages have been set and seem work OK. Not yet applied any RF. I consider myself to be quite experienced with a soldering iron and have enjoyed making up this kit. It seems to me that a lot of intelligent design went into this kit and in particular into the PCB, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is not confident to work with a fine soldering iron on a very crowded PCB. The entire transceiver including PA sits on one PCB of only 140mm x 90mm! Very neat, but crowded. For now, I shall finish the transceiver as designed, but will eventually use my Arduino/si5351 based DDS oscillator system in place of the original VFO. Regards Ken Hough (M0KOH) |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI used one of these in my BiTX20 build last year. Although I can't provide accurate measurements, there was no difference between this mixer and the hand built one with toroidal cores. Re: ADE-1-24
I made several BITX with SBL-1 ( SRA-1 ) and this device work just fine . Seen that ADE-1-24 ?are customer made mixers ( see my earlier post ) you can't be shure of there specifications . I'll use LREM-1 ( SMD ) because they are much easier to find in for me . ( 4.5 Euro / pce in the Netherlands ) .

Re: ADE-1-24
This is the answer I received fro Mini-circuits . So the part was developed as a "special series " for a customer and therefore can't hold the specifications . That's crystal clear . The vendor is well aware of that and will take the parts back . I'll receive ( OK for me ) SBL-1 insteat . 73 ,? Dear Marco, ? Thank you for your email and this information. ? Unfortunately the agent that you purchased the parts from is not an authorised distributor of Mini Circuits parts. We would not recommend purchasing Mini Circuits parts from unauthorised sources as they may not be genuine. For a full list of authorised sales representatives please visit our website; the sales representative for your area is Elexience. ? The picture shown on Ebay is an ADE-1 but if the part is marked ADE-1-24 this is not the same model - the seller may not have sent you what was advertised. Unfortunately, if the unit is an ADE-1-24 the "-24" indicates that it was a custom development for a customer and we would not be able to send you any information about it as it is proprietary to the customer that it was developed for. ? Also, we can see from the markings on the device that the parts are probably ~9 years old (the date code is 628, meaning week 28 of 2006). If they are we would not be able to confirm the parts are "fit for use", even if they are genuine Mini-Circuits parts, since we cannot know how they have been stored / handled in this time. ? I am sorry that we could not be more helpful on this occasion. ? Thanks and Best Regards, ? Joe

Re: ADE-1-24
Hi Ray ,?
The English e-bay shop will take them back without asking questions ( ????? ) So something must be wrong with the devises .The only thing they told me was : " leading manufacturer of SDR all over the world are using this type for there SDR " ..........? Problem is : Where to find the original one in Europe ? All roads on e-bay ?lead to ..... ( England , yes the same shop ?) ?I can order them in the States but the shipment cost are much more ( very much ) than the value of the ADE-1. I have send an e-mail to mini-circuits . Perhaps they can help . 73, Marco |
