? ? Thanks for the update.? I dont think anyone is in despair as someone mentioned.? I think we are more in anticipation as we get very close to getting the "shipped" email.? I still get excited by new radios and I am really looking forward to getting and playing with the zBitx.? I spend a lot of time doing portable activations and this is perfect for that.

? ? I had a radio I bought a couple years ago that had a 16 week lead time...I was all excited in anticipation by week 15.??
?
thanks for doing what you do.

Re: New zBitx - New User - CW operation
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSteve, ? I received my zBitx yesterday and CW works surprisingly well, considering all comments of the last few weeks. At least, when selecting Iambic. I can¡¯t handle Iambic B, but maybe that¡¯s my fault¡ My front panel firmware is 1.06 and my zBitx version is 3.052. As far as I can see on Github, those are the latest versions. What does NOT work, is everything that has to do with deviation from the operating frequency. Split does not work, and if you switch between VFO A and B, the frequency of the other VFO appears to change to a random frequency when you switch back. Same with RIT: if I select RIT when tuned to i.e. 7.023, the RIT RX frequency is 6.998. If I dial the RIT frequency to 7.024, the TX frequency changes to 7.049, which you can see when you switch off RIT. That means the TX frequency changed the same amount as the RX (RIT) frequency. Am I the only one with these symptoms? ? 73 Frank PA3CNO ? Van: [email protected] <[email protected]> Namens Steve Sutterer AK0M via groups.io

Re: zBitx doesn't start up
Hi Dave, what powersupply do you use ? 18650 battery¡¯s or external powersupply ?
i had some cheap 18650 battery¡¯s from HAM flea market¡.fully charged but within few minutes they draw empty (low voltage) with my Zbitx (then screen starts to flicker / falls out). I will now buy good ones. ..probably more expensive at least usable. ?(BTW anyone has a good sugesstion for which type let me know ;-)
another option could maybe be a corrupt SD card¡ ?

I am only a guy who added a day/night mode feature, with permission, to N8ME's already great firmware. :) My modded version, "uBITX_6_N8ME_2_Nite_HW.zip" just has some changes to be able to switch to a red-only color pallet, by holding the knob button in while turning the radio on. As a complete "hack" at programming, it is possible that I broke or changed something in his original program.

There is a file in the software which lets you enable and disable certain functions. The Arduino's memory is too small to allow all functions at the same time, so he included a way to select what features you would like to use and disable the ones you don't. It is possible that memory slots are not enabled.
?
I suggest installing the original N8ME v.2 firmware and test it. If you install the Arduino IDE (programming software), you can find the file with the setup parameters to make sure memory slots are enabled.

It's a fun radio and N8ME made a great firmware.

New zBitx - New User - CW operation
I just received my zBitx, and have read the manual as well as been following this group for the past couple months.?
I hope to use this rig primarily on CW and perhaps a little FT8. I am aware of some serious CW issues having been noted on this group.? What is the current state of usability in CW? Is there a best firmware to be using? I prefer to use an external paddle with the internal keyer and sidetone, but will a straight key or keyboard CW be better for now? Re: sbitx fatal error message -- oled.h --
Rick,
You did something differently than you should have.
Everything is set up in the 64-bit OS Image and such a problem is out of the question. So could you tell me what you did to get a 64-bit OS? Installing 64-bit sbitx on a 32-bit OS is not a solution. Since you wrote it in bold, we won't know more about how you tried to fix this error. We are users, just like you. --

Re: Sbitx V4.2 Low Voltage warning
Rick,
?
I took a old USB cable and chopped off the end that would plug into the computer, I then wired the 5V pair out of the cable directly to my 5V source, then plug the other end into the Raspberry Pi¡¯s power USB connector. Leave all other connections in place. That stopped the low voltage alarm.

Sbitx V4.2 Low Voltage warning
Hi to the group, I finally got my Sbitx DE up to 4.2 and it works fine but I have two issue
?
1). Low Voltage power warning when the PS is 14.1 Vdc
2). The display is about 1/2 the brightness it was on the factory software and the brightness control is set at max (31)
?
Need input -- please

Re: sbitx fatal error message -- oled.h --
OK, I updated to the 64bit version, but now I have a low display brightness and a continual low voltage warning. Changed PS but did not make a difference. Suggestions? Thanks -- Rick On Tue, May 6, 2025 at 9:35?AM HA3HZ via <gyula=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: SPLIT won't activate
#zbitx
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSame here. Firmware version 1.06. Received my zBitx today, so I might need to upgrade. CW works pretty good BTW, I set delay to 500 and sending 20 ¨C 28WPM is no problem using IAMBIC A. But SPLIT is not the only problem. If I set VFO A to a frequency in the 40m band (let¡¯s say 7020), and then select VFO B and set it to 7021, when I then switch back to VFO a, it¡¯s at 7015. And when I select VFO B again, it¡¯s also set to 7015. Whatever frequency I select, after toggling the VFO¡¯s they are always back on 7015. Same on 20m but then the VFOs always return to 14076. And split does not work. ? But, that said, I did not upgrade any firmware yet. And I¡¯m a bit reluctant to do that, because CW works just fine for me, and I don¡¯t know how that will change when I upgrade. I¡¯ve read so many comments on the CW function that I was pleasantly surprised about the keying. For the moment I prefer good keying over a working SPLIT. ? 73 Frank PA3CNO ? ?
