Re: Does anyone have a solution to wsjtx not transmitting on zbitx?
I suspect your powersupply is shutting down. 3.4 watt on sbit is fine for ft8 However, if you try to drive with the same tx level when in digi mode , your sbitx will now put out much much higher audio, causing zbitx to max out and possibly shutting down the pwr. It does this in both sbitx and zbitx. TRY: lower your tx drive on your zbit to 2 See if you get a reboot Joe VE1BWV? Indeed. ?DHL is bad about this, and also bad about doing home delivery (usually they drop off packages at a nearby gas station and I have to drive over there and pick them up). ?I picked up the package yesterday, then I got a bill afterwards: 440 NOK ($40) in import tax, and DHL tacks 229 ($21.15) on top. ?For a simple online billing service that’s rather crazy. ?I remember when I got my first Raspberry Pi in 2012, the cost was just over the threshold, so tax was due, and the tax plus fee basically doubled the price (but I think that time it was the postal service charging the fee). ?Maybe the worst was ordering from Dragino (a LoraWAN gateway): they charged me the tax, and I had to pay import tax on top because it wasn’t documented properly. ?I got the duplicated tax reimbursed afterwards, but not the tax collection fee. The right thing to do is for HF Signals to figure out how to add the tax for each country to the total for the order, and make sure it’s documented in a way that it’s clear the tax has been paid. ?I never have to pay import tax on AliExpress or eBay orders anymore, because they do that. ?(De minimis [tollgrense] used to be 200 NOK; then it was raised for a short while, but they started including shipping in the calculation; then it went away completely, with the expectation that online companies know how to collect tax by now.) ?And the postal service sometimes delivers packages that are small enough to fit in the mailbox. ?It’s just slower. |
Re: Does anyone have a solution to wsjtx not transmitting on zbitx?
You hit the nail on? the head about current draw though? The reboot was caused by the power slider in wsjt-x. Thanks Leo, AI5II On Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 09:37 Joe via <joeman2116=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Does anyone have a solution to wsjtx not transmitting on zbitx?
If I turn TUNE on in the zbitx panel while in digi mode, the zbitx outputs 3.4W. If I click on Tune in wsjt-x the zbitx reboots Leo, AI5II On Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 09:37 Joe via <joeman2116=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Does anyone have a solution to wsjtx not transmitting on zbitx?
I would put a new image on a new microsd v2 A1 . Sandisk extreme or equivalent.? Just to be sure the card is not the issue. Also when using Digi mode , the tx pwr out audio will drive yor zbitx to the max unless you turn your tx drive on sbitx way down. If you don't its possible your drawing to much current from the powersupply? ?which would shutdown your zbitx. It happenned to me .. and my current regulator on my powersupply automatically reduced my current causing a reboot. Also do you only have issues on digital mode tx? What happens if you switch to am , key down tx And see if you get a good output.? Joe VE1BWV? On Wed, Apr 9, 2025, 11:50?p.m. Leo Aniol, AI5II via <leomaniolone=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: zBitx Running Hot
Hi,
just tested my zbitx with 9v ps and 2 w output and 20% rate in wspr.
Backplate got extremly hot that I was able to hold it in hands for less than 5 seconds, what means over70 degree c out of my personal experience. Had to lower output to 1 w and 10% rate to give enough cooling down time. Will check with a temp probe later.
Best solution would be to change the backplate to a real heat sink I guess. '73 |
Re: Trying to cancel an order
Ian,
We haven't received the email, just checked for your name and callsign in the inbox but didn't find any. ?
Can you please resend it to sales at hfsignals dot com and mark support at hfsignals dot com on CC? Please don't forget to quote you order number so that we can expedite the cancellation process.

Re: Does anyone have a solution to wsjtx not transmitting on zbitx?
I did a clean install without any updates with wsjt-x running, I? can change bands without any problem; BUT "Test CAT" does nothing and if I click on "Enable TX" the zbitx reboots and if I click on "tune" the zbitx also reboots. I hope this helps with trying to figure out what is going on. Leo, AI5II On Tue, Apr 8, 2025, 14:03 Ashhar Farhan via <farhanbox=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: zBitx Running Hot
Yes the zbitx runs too hot. ?The linear regulator will make the back plate hot even while sitting idle but still reasonable. ?72c is not too hot for the zero as it’s under the thermal throttle threshold which I cannot remember is maybe 85c? ?On transmit though I haven’t checked but the radiant heat from the finals and back plate into the zero may push it into thermal throttle. ?It really needs a genuine heatsink on the back which I will be working on soon.

zBitx Running Hot
开云体育I'm starting to learn the idiosyncrasies of the zBitx. It appears to be running very hot (while not transmitting). The Pi Zero is reporting a core temp of 72 C.? That seems too hot, ...and not even while transmitting. (I have a PI5 with a cooler HAT that runs around 50 C) Will external heat sinks on the back cool the Pi Zero
sufficiently??? Am I cooking it to a slow death? Don in Austin N5CID |
