Re: sBitx v3 - problem with nonstandard callsigns
This problem is due to the ft8 library used in the sBitx software. This was already brought up by Shawn, K7IHZ, in this thread: ?
You can migrate to the 64bit version from JJ and team, and to use WSJTX/JTDX application for FT8 and use the screen scaler tool in the toolbox to resize the screen to fit the 7inch display.
Hope this helps ?

Re: sBitx v3 - problem with nonstandard callsigns
开云体育Yep it’s a known problem with ft8_lib. ?I was trying to hack on that a few months ago:??It wasn’t complete enough to work yet; so I guess I should get back to it soon, or maybe someone else will. But I see the issue got another patch, so I can test that soon: ?https://github.com/kgoba/ft8_lib/issues/44 I will have the same problem, wanting to use either the sbitx or zbitx when traveling, so I’d also like to have it fixed in time for summer. You can use wsjt-x rather than the built-in FT8 mode in the meantime, if you don’t want to help with the changes.

sBitx v3 - problem with nonstandard callsigns
I've been using my sBitx v3 for one and a half months and am pretty happy with it. However, I noticed strange behavior.
When I try to start QSO with a station that uses nonstandard callsign (e.g., longer than usual or prefixed or suffixed with something), its callsign is displayed as <...>. The same "<...>" is output to the log. This form seems to be used even in responses, so the recipient does not accept them, and the QSO gets broken. Up to now, I'm simply limiting my QSOs to the stations with standard callsigns.? However, spring and summer approach, and I hope to use my site v3 in SOTA and POTA activities or use it during my holidays abroad. In those cases, my callsign will need to be suffixed (e.g., with "/P") or prefixed (e.g., with "OE/" when in ?sterreich). Is my sBitx v3 going to handle that situation properly, or I won't be able to make any QSO? How can I fix that issue? ?

Re: uBITX v6 PTT stuck
I use same dipole that was in use before.. It is without balun but good trimmed and it works same for many years also on other devices, even on the very same uBITX and for same purpose, nothing has changed concerning the antenna... Just thinking, could it be that the relay has worned or weakened out in a year of doing RTTY and PSK contestings..?

Re: uBITX v6 PTT stuck
Hi Vule,
1) Do You have original ubitx V6 display? If Yes, is "TX" sign disappearing from the screen after TX is switched OFF?
2) Is this happening when toggling PTT (also for longer period) with RF power (CW, SSB with modulation) and with microphone?
2) Is powering ubitx OFF and turning it back ON causing back to RX?
?
If this is relay(s) issue - then relay replacement might be necessary. I believe better quality OMRON G5V-2 12 VDC might be considered.
?
If this is Your PSK/RTTY device issue then will be difficult to help - more data needed - eg. monitoring of voltage on PTT line - as I remember PTT input is configured as pull-up input in Arduino.
?
Might be also socket issue.
Might be a problem even with Arduino nano... which of course can be bought without gold-pins soldered, then pins needs to be soldered on the other side than market versions, flashed and installed into raduino board.
Something else...
?

Re: zBit shipments
I have to believe that those who were able to order the first 250 radios will be advised when their radios shipped - HF Signals has indicated they would be sending out tracking numbers as they ship product, as I recall.
?
I fully expect we will hear from list members as they receive their tracking numbers and/or their radios.
?
If you are among the first 250, I think patience is called for (watched pot never boils, etc), and if you are waiting to place an order once orders open back up, the very best thing you can do is send a note to sales@... and ask them to alert you when the zBitx can be ordered. They have indicated that they can not promise to track every alert request sent to this email reflector, so best to contact them direct is the best option.
?
Posting your interest in ordering a zBitx on this email reflector causes over seven thousand list members to get emails they have no use of or interest in getting.

Re: reviving my sbitx v3
开云体育It's kind of odd, but not really, if I were trying to diagnose something that I built myself, I would have no problem. I have no problem doing mods to commercial built equipment. But, yes, I would be lost if something on a commercial transceiver
went poof. It is a great learning experience though! I also tend to have multiple projects going on as well, I am concurrently trying to figure out a new Radioberry v2 as well. I finally got it going, even got the preamp board working, but I have to verify
output yet. That whole project could use a well organized wiki and repository too. Thanks Gordon!

Re: reviving my sbitx v3
I agree about Heathkit. I miss the HW101 I had in the late '70s. I could almost draw parts of? the schematic by memory. (Yes, I played/worked on it that often!) I stayed active in cw, ssb, rtty and even Air Force MARS back then. Scotty On Thu, Mar 6, 2025, 8:53 AM Gordon Gibby KX4Z via <docvacuumtubes=[email protected]> wrote:
