I have not used the uBITX Settings Editor.? The values listed do not make sense.? Maybe, Mark, AJ6CU, can comment on the values.? The alternative is to try to get the Memory Manager to work.? Are you using a Windows OS?

Since the CW BFO is zero, I suspect that is the issue.

Re: uBITX v6 Odd CW sound #cw #ubitxcw #ubitx-v6

Aaron

That depends on what you find and which modes are working correctly.? The USB value would be used if the rig were calibrated using USB.? If it were done using LSB, then LSB would be the correct value.? All should be the same.? Any that are zero should be changed to the valid value.

NOTE: Each Raduino mainboard combination can be different.? The values are adjusted to calibrate the master clock and adjust for the differences in the SSB crystal filter.

Be sure to save the values to a file before you change anything so that you can go back to the current settings.?

There is also a BFO tuning aid web page from Ashhar Farhan:

It does require a mic connected to your PC.

You stated that digital and SSB worked correctly, so I would not mess with the BFO tuning for the LSB or USB values.

A video can be used as guidance for the adjustment, though it was made for the stock v6 firmware.? The difference would be how to set the values.? The BFO tuning aid and the zero-beat process would be the same.

Aaron,

Have you downloaded and run the Memory Manager software from KD8CEC?? If so, check the first screen of information to see if the BFO calibrations differ for USB, LSB, and CW.? I have them all set to the same value:

Re: uBITX v6 Odd CW sound #cw #ubitxcw #ubitx-v6

Sorry, it has been a while.?
I have since upgraded to a 3.5" Nextion Display and now the CW tone is very high pitched regardless of what I set the tone at. I will try to answer each of your questions:?
1 - Is the buzzing for both strong and weak signals??Yes, since I upgraded to the Nextion the buzzing is now a high-pitched heterodyne type of noise. It hurts the ears.?
2 - Is it the same for all bands??Yes it is
3 - Does adjusting the volume change the buzzing level?? By that, I mean the signal becomes cleaner in low-volume settings. No it just changes the volume of it
4 - What is the sidetone setting? I keep it at around 700Hz but in attempting to resolve the issue I have changed it from 1000HZ to 250Hz and I discovered that changing the sidetone does not change the tone in any way.?
5 - Can you receive CW in SSB mode?? There is not much difference in the receiver between SSB and CW.? The software does change the LO depending on the sidetone setting.?When I switch to SSB I lose the CW signal. I also lose it when I switch between CWU and CWL
6-?Is it a over the air CW signal, that you can copy or are you hearing one of the numerous birdies? Yes it is over the air

Re: Status Updates: KD8CEC and uBITX Memory Manager 2.0

Did some renaming of repositories on github and the link above no longer works The correct new link is:

.

I have also expanded the system info section in beta 2. Unfortunately, to get access to this new info, you need to have made one of my boards with an i2c eeprom:

and be running KD8CEC V2 (beta) requiring build from the repository:

Hopefully by summer this will be all straighten out and it will be easier to get this combo. But here is a tease of this additional functionality:

(grayed out means definitions in the config file but they are not operational in the current build config.)

^? That's "give it " a drop of thin oil, of course. No voting required, here :)??

A toothpick or jeweler's screwdriver is handy for applying a drop without getting on the label surface. It only takes a small drop.?

Re: two radios and one antenna tuner and antenna #ubitx-v6

This may sound ignorant and if so, I apologize, but how does the power from one transmitter get into the second radio if the switch is disconnecting the second radio from the transmitting radio? If it is an induced current from nearby, coaxial cable, then the switch probably doesn¡¯t make much difference in my case, since I currently have both cables ( icom and ubitx) next to one another, in order to plug them into the antenna tuner depending on which radio I¡¯m going to use. If it¡¯s really coming from the switch, then it may be better to keep the cables separate and plug the cables in when in use but if its from the cables being close to one another or the radios being adjacent to one another then I have already been using them next to one another. Just wondering if anyone knows the possible source of the problem.

Thanks, David.?

Re: fan squeal when dekeying

The bearing is probably going bad or defective.

If you're brave, remove the fan and carefully peel back the label on the back of the motor. Gubernatorial it a drop of thin oil (WD40 will do if that's what you have). Avoid any contact with the surface where the label was; press the label back down. If it won't stick, use some? aluminium-backed tape.? Reinstall, etc.?

Something I would like to see in the new GUI is, a way to shut the FT-8/digital screen off when not using it and be able to see the spectrum and waterfall in full screen.

Re: Buy in INDIA

The ubitx and the sbitx are sold by the usa company. It would be illegal to not pay the duty. Anyway, the duty or the gst work out to be the same.
We are still unclear of the law hence we are not shipping to India yet.

Airpal Dual Band SSB TCVR Kit Available

The Airpal SSB Transceiver is finally available,

Highlights of Airpal.on

1. Dual Band 20mt/40mt ssb tcvr
2, RF Output 20MT? 2 watts .
3 RF output 40 MT?? 5 to 7 Watts
4. Designs Bi directional?
5. Expandable to 40 watts
6. Enclosure to be available with option to install a linear and a auto ant tuner.

if you have been waiting the Airpal 20/40MT dual band tcvr then the wait is over.
We have started with a limited quantity of kits to understand the mood of current situation as presently a large number of hams are wishing to use ready made equipment. The quantity is only 25 Kits which are kitted as present. Only packing is taking place now.

I will be adding some you tube video soon with some details on construction. In fact anyone building this kit could do the same and even better then what i could do .
The interesting thing about Airpal is that by next month we will have a enclosure in which you could? mount a linear amp 40 watts linear and an auto tuner.

Thanks for paying attention and here is link to purchase the Airpal.

Thanks and best of 73s

One. If you have made the diode modification that I recommended so many years ago to protect Q 90, in early versions this isn¡¯t much of an issue. ?Otherwise yes, you might will blow something. Because you will eventually blow that transistor if it remains unprotected I haven¡¯t looked at the schematics of the later versions so I don¡¯t know what¡¯s going on there. ?The original design acted like a RF power supply to reverse bias the base emitter junction and eventually blow it. ? Anytime you have a diode and what turns out to be a ¡°power supply ¡°there is a requirement for a certain reverse voltage capability. ?If there¡¯s a capacitor in series with a diode you have built a power supply! Think about it

Two. ?At our emergency operation center we have three HF transceivers connected with a single coax switch to our output system. ? There are different varieties of coax which is, some with better isolation than others, we have done fine but you might wish to get one that grounds the unused ports.?

Hi
Now that I have the ubitx 6 working great I would like to connect it to my antenna tuner and then to the antenna as a second radio. I want to be able to use the Icom or ubitx (but only one at a time)? without having to plug and unplug cables all the time.
I have seen several youtube videos saying that you can usually hook two radios to a coax switch with one outgoing cable to the antenna tuner and then antenna.
The videos talk about isolation between the ports and suggest that there is enough isolation to avoid radio damage. I dont see anyone reporting radio damage.

Has anyone hooked a ubitx v6 to a coax switch and run a 100 watt radio thru the other port without damaging the ubitx v6 ?
Would hate to brick the ubitx just for convenient hookup !

thanks
