Re: Sbitx v3 HW_settings.ini gone- how fix?
I can see that if the message is not aimed at you, then you do not understand what is concerning you.
You need to learn to interpret what you read. Any version of sBitx reads the data necessary for operation from the hw_settings.ini file. If for some reason the original hw_sttings.ini is lost, then you rename the default_hw_settings.ini file to a file without default, i.e. hw_setting.ini.
This will make your hardware work, but it may not be as efficient as with the .ini file assigned to it.
You write that you are stuck. Think, read and do: buy several 64 GB uSD cards (and/or USB sticks) for backup and updates, always keep an original one that you modified. I recommend the 64GB one because it is faster to write and read. In the previous message I wrote the two links because you reiterate that you want to switch to 64-bit.
If you do, then you have a working system and you may not even need to correct hw_settings.ini.
Create the ELF Image on a new uSD card, with this v4.2 sbitx and many useful utilities will be partially set up.
Partly because you have to enter personal data in each of them. With this you can already radio.
After that you can refine it, because the Image was made in December 2024, which has been updated since then, you also need to update them. First update the sBITS Tools application and note its use, because what you can do. Use the EZ Data app to save daily data to an external USB stick.
When you use sbitx, before turning it off, make a copy of the files that changed that day on a USB stick.
LOG file and settings (ini file), if you have changed it, otherwise it is enough to make a backup once. Of course, if you can handle it reliably.
By the way, I don't understand the reference to drive F or E.
The sbitx 64 bit is installed on Bookworm OS and you can make a Backup with the Accessories -> SD Card Copier application in the Debian 'Raspberry' menu. Backup is not copied under Windows.

Re: sBitx v4
Jim,
As Farhan mentioned in his message, we will begin taking orders for the V4 once we clear the backlog of zBitx orders we have right now. ?

sBitx or zBitx: Analyzing the FT8 messages in my application
I'm interested in analyzing the received FT8 messages in a software (e.g., a Python script) to detect messages from DX entities which I'm especially interested in. In case of sBitx, it can be a script running on the radio itself. In case of zBitx it can be a script running on a connected laptop or smartphone. Is such a functionality already supported, or should I patch the software myself? 73, Wojtek SP5DAA? |

Has Farhan said when the sBitx V4 hardware will be available? Jim,
please ask Farhan the same thing. How are we supposed to know what he's planning? For example, I am not a mind reader, but I am excellent at correcting by laying on my hands. ;-)

Due to the size of the zbitx, the best solution is to expand the SD card, because the USB port is not enough to use a USB stick.

Trouble is, to swap the SD card REQUIRES disassembling the radio - at least
removing the case. Not an "in the field" friendly operation. Having a proper
shutdown command sent to the Raspberry Pi greatly reduces the chance of SD card
corruption.

Re: zBitx keyboard and monitor recommendation and advice
Dave
i suggest that you get a microUSB Port extension with at least 2 USB Connections like this
AuviPal 3-Port Micro USB OTG Hub...
this plugs into the zBITX socket. ?Then you just need a small QWERTY keyboard and mouse. ?For the Monitor connection you will need a miniHDMI to HDMI cable like this
Thsucords Thin Mini HDMI to HDMI...
to connect the miniHDMI port on the zBITX to a regular monitor. ?

Re: zBitx +-2 MHz transmit spurs?
Are other people not finding problems with spurious mixing spurs around 2 to 3 MHz above and below the Tx signal of your zBitx?
You can listen in with any wideband SDR such as an SDRPlay or RTL-SDR connected to very small sniffer antenna (paperclip).
If other people are not seeing strong spurs, perhaps my unit has a bad MS5351 clock chip or faulty bypass caps that I can fix. ?

Re: Is this a Bit-X?
Thank you so much!? I have never had an SDR QRP rig before.? I¡¯ve have TT Powermites and Argonaut 505 and 509s as well as anHW-8 and had HW-7&9.? This is a whole other ballgame.? I¡¯ll probably pick up a Bit-X at some point as there is a large following.? Thanks again! 73, Jerry - NE4L On Mon, May 19, 2025 at 11:40?AM Ron Carr via <rcarr=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Tiny GNSS Clock for the Field
Hi Li,
?
? ?I have a number of devices with so-called 'real time clocks' including Teensy 4 and RasPi devices.? I end up removing the battery as some clocks emit RF ticking, and not one of them has actually kept reasonable time over a 24 hour period.? None of the devices I have keep time accurately enough to use?WSJT-X modes.? I do not have a zBITX so can't speak to how well that RTC keeps time.
?
? ?When I'm on land and using my Ultimate3S WSPR rig from QRP-LABS, I use a GPS input and never have to worry about setting the clock - it's "never" off.? I use GPS timing when I'm at sea and away from cellphone coverage for the same reason, whether using digimodes or when timing celestial navigation sights (a work in progress...).?
?
? ?When the device is GPS disciplined, one doesn't have to worry about setting the clock - the device becomes a 'toaster' - it just works.
