Re: CeC Firmware
Hi Evan, Thanks for the revert. I am using the stock 2 line LCD which has come with the ver3 set. I will check the line in the file which has to be uncommented as there are several LCD display types. Regards? Rajesh VU3RHU On Sun, 5 Jul 2020, 16:16 Evan Hand, <elhandjr@...> wrote: Rajesh, |
Re: CeC Firmware
Rajesh,
Are you using the stock 16x2 display?? Did it work before you loaded the CEC software? I would check connections.? You may have disturbed something when connecting the USB cable to the Nano.? If it were a software problem, the screen would light up, but be blank or show gray squares. As to your question of which screen to use, that would depend on what size you would like and if you want the graphical interface.? There are versions of the Nextion tft files for most all of the screen sizes available.? For a graphic screen, the software will only work with a Nextion screen, as it relies on the processor in the display to do some of the GUI functions.? My favorite choice is the 3.5" Enhanced display? NX4832K035.? I have not tried the larger (above 2.8") size Basic version, as they do not have as much memory, and the larger the screen size the more memory is required (the screens are bit maps, so larger display means more memory to store a single screen).? I have not tried the very large versions (5" and larger), as they require a significant amount of 5votl power, and probably a separate 5volt source or a better 5volt regulator with dropping resistor and heatsink. I do not have experience with the non-graphic screens other than the stock 16x2 parallel screen.? For an original stock screen to work, you do need to use the file: UBITX_CEC_V1.200_16P.hex Here is the file FileNameInfo.txt printed from the uBITXV234 part of the zip archive.: Start Print?======================================================================================================= http://www.hamskey.com/2018/04/various-lcd-support-in-ubitx-with.html ?

Re: UBITX use with 144 MHz transverter
Good effort. ?I an not a coding personat all I suppose that we? can do this way. before the line which displays the frequency add a clause, using a? spare pin.. ?if the pin is high ? add a fixed value to the display value and then display. otherwise normal perhaps the length of the characters on display line may have to be increased. I wonder whether it is possible that this check can be restricted to only 10m and not every band. Re: Delivery Report
I sent something from Kentucky to Michigan by USPS on a Thursday/Friday and was promised it would arrive the following Tuesday. Then the USPS tracking tool advised that because of the Corinavirus confusion, it would be delayed. It arrived the following Friday/Saturday. All things considered, delivery times may be bad but not unreasonable. My uncle was a USPS mail sorter on a train between Knoxville and Cincinnati for many years. He once commented: "I don't know why people complain about the mail, where else in the world can you get a letter delivered for a penny a day?" Then he laughed. Bob — KK5R

Re: Last effort before it is scrapped.....
Changing antennas making it perform OK may indicate that you had high SWR on the other antenna/s. The RF could have caused feedback and received distortion. You may want to recheck the SWR on the other antenna/s. Bob — KK5R

Re: Trustworthy 2N2222A?
Hi, Peter.
I'm sorry for the delayed response. Please don't take it as a lack of interest in helping.? I added a 22-ohm resistor to the bias resistors recommended in the case of other transistor swaps, i.e. R87 in the pre-driver, etc. Without the schematic handy, I'm hesitant to name all three instances where this is done but it's essentially the same bias change as if 2N2222's had been swapped for the 3904's.? Another user a while back suggested simply going parallel with the similar, now disused resistor next to it i.e.R88 for the same objective.? That is, shunting across the non-grounded side of R87 & R88 is the same as nailing a second resistor on top of R87 - and it's easier.? So, that's one way you can do the bias adjustment when replacing two 3904's with one 5109. About those finals: Note that the motherboard has been Dremmeled out a little behind the finals, to make room for a heat sink arrangement inside a steel hard drive case. I messed up and also let out the magic smoke from the original finals besides. My de-soldering skills are terrible and I also have nerve damage affecting my hands, and so you're looking at a poor repair, there. It is not pretty.... the radio works, though. ? Best of luck, Peter, and do feel free to write again if I can help. -Ted |
Re: UBITX use with 144 MHz transverter
开云体育No problem... and I'm going to (when I get the chance) convert an old BitX20 I built to 10m for use with one of those transverters.I might mention that I've got one of those 144 boards and a 440 (pre-assembled) unit.? I found that the Transverter conversion was slightly off - I'd suggest using a frequency counter and put a known frequency CW signal into the transverter - and measure the output frequency.? That way you know what the offset really is.? Then whatever you get on the dial, will be what you transmit on 2.? If you learn how to mod the programming - you can always go back and make the display accurate to what is transmitted! 28.1 = 50.1, 144.1, and 432.1 on the transverters, plus or minus a tiny bit.? The big thing is not to overpower the front end - if you get a transverter with the power divider board (reduces the signal to an appropriate level for the actual transverter board), make sure you NEVER go more than 10w PEP, and if you run 5 (even 1), that's great.? IMO, a BitX would be the ideal radio for one of those (Ukrainian) transverters! (You don't need or even want to get every milliwatt out of the finals anyway.) Re: UBITX use with 144 MHz transverter
Michel Changing the frequency display to accommodate?a transverter should? be rather easy.? Frequency display is already a calculated offset to? accommodate the IF frequency.? You would need another?calculation? to multiple the HF frequency display according to the transverter offset. Probably just one line of code. Re: UBITX use with 144 MHz transverter
开云体育Well that’s why we all buy kits like the uBITx … to gain knowledge.? Good time maybe to learn a little bit about the Arduino.? Remember you can always reload the original code if you really mess it up. ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Michel Dupuy ? Yes but I am not knowledgeable enough to modify the code of KD8CEC version 1.2. I would like if it is possible that when I am on 28MHz the display shows 144MHz. It's just for fun, the transverter works very well, it's a UT5JCW assembly. Thank you. -- …_. _._ |
Re: Last effort before it is scrapped.....
McRuss,
Is the audio problem on receive or transmit? If on transmit, then the suggestions by Gordon are the first step.? Then go to the final BFO calibration in the 3 step process of Ashhar Farhan's video (see link below) If on Recieve, then be sure to follow all three steps in the video. Note: The reason for the three steps in the calibration process is that the first BFO setting is being set to allow for optimum zero beating.? You need the low-frequency response to hear the zero beat as you get closer to the correct frequency.? You then need to change that setting to optimize for normal audio. Good luck! 73 Evan AC9TU |
