Re: ubitx V6 SSB Transmit Audio Distortion (voice only)

I up graded the mic that came with my V6 -- replaced tiny element, enlarged hole in front cover, removed speaker, filled with cotton balls.? Before I did this work I checked the wiring of the thing and found it to be good.? With the changes made the mic is very useable with my V6.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone (Rene?) has double-checked the wiring on these Baofeng microphones.? I think these are speaker/mics and the plugs are changed at the factory.? So I was wondering if perhaps some were wired incorrectly and the electret element is not connected correctly.? It is possible that the speaker is being hooked up instead of the microphone?? A check would be just to trace the wiring and make sure goes only to the electret element and PTT switch, and the speaker is fully disconnected.

Re: TX frequency is 1.2 kHz off #bfo #calibration #cw #v6

Thanks Jim for answer??

I tried everything? ?usb/lsb shift is too large . BFO doesnt impacts.
RIT or split mode is solution for CQ .
on the other side transcerver is very good on SSB .?

Thanks.? Now this one worked.

Re: Some Improvements to the stock V6 code #bfo #calibration #firmware #ubitxv6

Thanks Guru. I loaded your work on my? uBitx V6 and everything works cool. Added features are helpful and interface is smooth with better color combo.

Re: Okay new quesetion #antennas #v6

A SWR meter is all that is needed to adjust simple antennas.? However the nano VNA makes it easy to see where the antenna is resonate.? You can take them out to the antenna so you do not have to go to the shack to check the SWR.? Those things are really very accurate.? Much more so than you would think for an instrument under $ 100.? Go for the newer 4 inch screen .? They can also be hooked to a laptop for a large display.? If you have an extra $ 50 to $ 100 to spend I say go for it.

Re: Okay new quesetion #antennas #v6

Russ,

All true until you get high enough and it starts going down.

I'd describe it as higher the closer to 70 ohms (natural impedance for dipole).
Also at less than .25 lambda the impedance is lower than 50 ohms and the length
will be shorter due to ground reflection and loading.

Re: ubitx v6 board only

How cheap was the 5A 14V smps supply used??
As many cheap units lack some or all filtering to save a penny.
You could also have strong local qrm, have you tried any other receiver with the same antenna?

Re: Okay new quesetion #antennas #v6

As the antenna raised (or lowered) from ground . . . the impedance changes.
The closer to the ground . . .the lower the impedance. Higher from the ground . . . the greater impedance.
You need to adjust the antenna at the point you will be using it from.
Surroundings in the vicinity of the antenna will also produce various VSWR.

digital s-meter/power meter for ubitx

look at files/digital for upload files

digital s-meter/power meter forubitx

While at home in lock_down i saw this Web site (Forum.arduino.cc/index?topic=403234.0)
about a adding a digital S-meter/power meter using a arduino board, it looked good project for my
cubit ver 5 radio so, I started to look to see what i needed to use this software.
My ubitx radio has the CEC firmware Ver 1.2 with a 5" Next ion display, also i installed
the Standalone Signal Analyzer(ic2 signal-meter).I uploaded pictures of the insulation
and drawings of the circuits. The vu meter is connected? to the microphone input on the
the ubitx board you'll need CEC firmware ver 1.2 to use it. Just press the TX STOP
Button then press the mic PTT Button then set Smeter/vu meter switch to vu, the oled
display will display microphone output level (there ubitx will not xmit).
The power meter scale needs to be changed the scale goes up to 100w, I need to change
it to read 30w scale.I use a arduino mini pro just becouse i had one!

Re: TX frequency is 1.2 kHz off #bfo #calibration #cw #v6

James George

Remember to go to usb for cw if you try to use leg the frequency will be off. There are lots of quirks and the tube video is misleading if you zero beat a am signal which is 6 khz wide you will probably be off frequency instead for a ssb station and tune to them.? Bfo should be somewhere close to 11.056
