Interesting reaction.? I watched Ashar's video introducing v6 and it seemed fast enough to change bands etc.? usually its the tuning knob and volume control that get all the action.? I didn't see a 'use' for a fancy display but the work that went into v6 looks rather nice.?

Full kIt arrived the day before New Years. Reflecting on packing it was OK...nothing was scratched,?
dented or flopping around for the DHL shipment time of 9 days. Assembled last Saturday.? Played
around Sunday and Monday after setting the FREQ setting and the BFO setting. Quite an engineering,
feat and I suppose programming endeavor by the creator.?

However, this is my first ham rig having a touch screen. And I simply DO NOT LIKE touchscreen.
The radio is a little box'ier? than intentioned so not interesting in it for my go-kit. I'm keeping with my
knob/display radios, and? KD1JV Tribander for the field.?

This one is up for sale...... As new...complete assembled already with everything that comes with it.

does yours allow selection of 17 m band? if not maybe a newer faster one might have that fix in it as well

Just built my uBitx v6, I cannot believe how slow the display is.
Could someone post a compiled HEX of the faster firmware.

Mine turned up with damage. The volume pot broken off the the board, marks on the touch screen, and damage to the corners of the case. Also chipped paint work.

Hi Andy,

12V @ 6A?is good, but doesn't actually indicate how "fast" your power supply is. Power supplies have ramp up times and response times that determine how "fast" they are.

I agree that not having an easy "reset" button is a potential issue. You could solder such a button on, and cut a hole in your case for a momentary push button, but for your target audience that may not be ideal?

I haven't put very much effort investigating the power sequencing yet, but it may be that there's a simple mod (either in software or hardware) that reliably prevents the "blank screen syndrome" in all cases. Definitely should be on the "to-do" list, though.

Hello folks,

Attached is draft Noobie guide pdf version for comments/improvements. If my bricked rig solution is repairable using software re-install I will add that procedure to end as well. I'd like to include similar details to get access and control of software fom laptop like memory manager and internal software settings as well but current tech info is so scattered and scarce I could use a bit of an assist from anyone else to enhance what I have already.

The YouTUbe video was somewhat helpful but it referred to uploading code then doing hardware resets and this rig doesn't have such a button and only reset available is power up/down sequencing unless one can go through USB comm port.

The same was true using Xloader it would talk to the USB port to upload but no further controls to reset other than a power recycle of the whole unit after removing USB connection.

All comments &/or suggestions are appreciated and I will put final version out as an attachment also.

I have a dedicated 12 VDC @ 6 Amps supply for the uBITx transceiver with no other load on it.? The only thing I noticed in past sessions after connecting to laptop via USB port was that if I shut off the ON/OFF Vol control it stays powered up if the USB connection to laptop is live.

Everything was working fine as I indicated and I just powered it down for the night, as I had done many times before, and it did not start when I returned today. That is why I thought maybe the experimenting with the Xloader and or arduino uploading had somehow done a bad load just blanking all previous code. I don't have a h/w reset button on his one; I would need some sort of diagnostic program to run on laptop that could comm with USB port and do a reset via comm port I think but that would have to be a different program as well.

Something like this isn't great for teaching students in a course especially when cost is as high as it is.

Seems like the lack of power sequencing may mean that "slow" power supplies don't work well.

First of all, let me clarify something here to eliminate confusion.? The TSW Teensy 4.0 to NANO adapter I mentioned to start this thread has NOTHING to do with the RobotDyn SAMD21 board some of you have talked about (also in this thread).?

The TSW adapter board takes a Teensy 4.0 mounted in a socket and converts it's layout to the I/O pins of the NANO and plugs into the Raduino's NANO socket.? This (with a couple of mods to protect the Teensy 4 from 5Volt input to any of it's I/O pins) allows the T4 to almost directly replace the NANO on ANY repeat ANY of the Raduino's used in the uBITX radios.

TSW already has released software to go with this adapter that really speeds up the V6 display (virtually instantaneous updates) and refines the CW keyer to the point where it is very reliable.

I have been using one of our adapters on my new V6 uBITX for several weeks now with no problems and everything I've written here is from actual experience, not speculation.?

TSW would appreciate it if you keep this in mind when talking about the RobotDyn SAMD21 board as there is absolutely NO relation between that and our offered adapter.

I recently saw a couple of posts that mentioned a 4 port USB expander/extender was used with UBITx xcvr.

I am interested in the details of how it was installed to be used.

The one expander I have found reliable was an IOGEAR independently powered one. It has separate DC power supply so does not contribute to extra DC load on limited laptop USB port dc supplies.

I also tried the same IOGEAR model expander that used dc power from the host laptop instead and nothing plugged into it was recognized by the operating system at all. The OS saw the expansion hub but no devices connected to it.

So if anyone has the details I would appreciate the details as I would like to be able to use a separate simple sound dongle or SignalinkUSB? for simulated modem tones in digi applications over radio.

In my vigor and enthusiasm to learn the arduino tools and Xloader I appear to have completely lost the display; all I get is a blank white screen and it does not enter the setup screen when I power it up with the tune button help. I believe the term that describes effect of my experimenting is "BRICKED" hihi

Prior to current state I had managed to receive CHU Canada time signal on 3330 KHz ; audio quality wasn't great due to BFO but definitely rx was finally working OK.? Had confirmed TX and RX were both functioning OK and moved onto code fam to be able to access software and software settings. Turned it all off to go to bed and this morning just a blank white screen on power up.

Hence my humble request for some assistance in de-bricking it !

So where might I find a link to download the latest V6 full software install and maybe a step by step description of how to install it properly again. Also Memory Manager and software settings manager software for V6
