Re: VK ops - parts available ...
Did a Google on this company and it comes up as a security company. Do you have a .com for them?

Re: Current limit for PA
What about a constant current control? On several voltage regulator data sheets, I have seen many circuit recommendations including one for constant current control. Look at a data sheet for any

Re: Raduino dead?
I juszt received my new Arduino Nano board from China and tried to upload the sketch and it worked without any problems. So it is for sure now, that the Nano on the Raduino died during the calibration

Re: PC not seeingvthe Rafuino.
Hi Guys, I downloaded the very latest IDE and after a bit of driver uploading the Nano is now up and running on my Windows XP based Netbook ....It has to be said my programming skills are basic, But

Re: Current limit for PA
A fraction of an ohm resistor in the source lead would provide a negative bias with increasing device current. There will be a small drop in output power I guess. The resister can be bypassed with a

Re: Current limit for PA
My plan is to build the circuit and plug it into the PA connector. I need to see where I can connect the bias part, so it feeds the bias regulator. Nothing fancy and nothing permanent, just in case it

Re: Current limit for PA
Monitoring temperature in a PA (usually with a diode) works by regulating the drive voltage as temperature varies. It has little to do with SWR. It reduces the drive as the finals get hotter. Speaking

Re: Current limit for PA
That G0KLA circuit could be quite cheap to mass produce, right in there with the cost of a fuse. Some RF amps monitor temperature at the final, though that would be even slower than a fuse. My guess

Re: Current limit for PA
You will really need a fast blow fuse if this is to work. Semiconductor devices blow faster than fuses. Fuses work well to protect equipment from shorts that may result in fire. Raj

Thanks for the links. I will probably build it with junk box parts, all through-hole. I plan on using a larger heatsink, so I could mount the TIP transistor on there. I just need the radio to get

Re: Current limit for PA
No insult taken. A fuse is fine. I just like the idea that I can't blow it up, no matter how much I try. I also will not have to keep spare fuses. If it truly prevents the transistor from blowing with

Re: Current limit for PA
For the Bitx 40 final PA IRF510 voltage input, I would just use a 1.5A or 2A in-line fuse. Remember what KISS means?? I really don't mean to be insulting. Just pointing out the effectiveness of
