Re: Posts not showing up in forum

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Gentlemen,

?Posts, posts, posts, are peppering my email every day. I love the BITx radios but I don't need every post to come alive

on my email. Editing my preferences doesn't seem to help so I just unsubscribed to this group. If you can eliminate all

posts from my mail I will re-join this group in the near future. Thanks in advance to the webmaster of this group.

They are now showing up, Jason. From memory, the first post by a new member is always moderated, so it wont appear until that has occurred. That said, if you tried to make several posts before the moderation had occurred, I guess they would also be slow to appear.

BitX20 Problems

Don

Hello all,

Looked through the archives and see many complex (for me) topics covered, so this one should be simple -- for someone else on this list, that is.

Built an earlier, through-the-hole BitX 20 kit (QRPKits.Com) for someone. ?Looks great! ?Doesn't work great, however.

Problems:?

1.) Received SSB signal audio fairly weak, but nice strong birdie on ~14.300. ?Audio stage appears pretty functional with 'finger test' on components.

2.) PTT switch produces nice strong 9 watt carrier. ?But this isn't supposed to be an AM rig. ?What's up with that, please?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. There are three of us trying to figure this out, all older hams, and not one of us has a clue.

Thank you,
72/73,

In terms of RFI shielding, wouldn't a metal case be better, or are levels so low that it isn't an issue.

RADNINO/VFO/DRO Not working

Recently assembled my BITX-40 with DIGITAL READOUT/ VFO
and was testing TX & RX...?? Seemed to be working OK. ?
?I turned it ON and OFF after about 1hr and the Digital Display
instead of reading out Frequency placed "rectangles" where
?the numbers were located..? It appears that the Raduino
VFO is no longer working.? I tested the main board by
replacing the RADNINO UNIT with the supplied L4 Coil and the
main board works as it is sup[pose to.? ?

Any suggestions on how to test or repair the RADNINO UNIT? ?
Could be hardware or software???

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Enjoying my BITX40

I haven't even soldered the first wire?but trying to understand the radio and the Uno has been a fantastic learning experience. I was surprised that I already knew the answer to which wire to ground to calibrate it.

The correct information and color are defined in the sketch. The best fifty-nine educational dollars I have ever spent even if I never put the radio together. (Just awaiting my case and a couple of other items and you can bet it will be built.).

My hats off to the developer/manufacturer and all the contributors?to the forum. Thank you!

Try the above circuit , it works , the signal seems clean and it is small . I have not tried it on 40M yet as I am converting a BITX40v3 to 80 M . Tested it tonight , I get full output on CW on 80 M . I have the AF adjusted to approx 1k audio note via the 20 k pot . I am also going to put an adjustment pot in the sine wave output so as not to overdrive the TX . MODS : I changed the 2 - .003 uf to .002 as that is all I had in my junk box . Since I am running 12 V input , I changed the 6.8 k to 10 k ?and it still works on the bench hooked up to the BITX. The circuit is stupidly simple and seems very stable. I just installed the key in series with the sine wave output to the mic connection . Going to install a DPDT switch to disconnect mike and connect audio generator for CW . Simple and it works . 73s Buzz

Excellent! Brilliant!

I think this will be a great demo for my students. ?I love the DIP connector to keep wires in correct phase.

It works in Single side band voice and CW (telegraph) aside from working as a radio it is a terrific learning tool. He will definitely enjoy it,

Re: Info a out buying BITX40

my father loves this kind of things: he has a strong knowledge about circuits and how to adapt them for other purposes or upgrades, so there are no problem. For a period he build antennas and othe stuff for other ham in the area he lives.?

I think he would have big fun with this gift. I know that ho loves CW, but if the "hack" is as described in the forum, I think there are no problems at all.

thanks a lot.?

Can't say - I have no idea what the "cap discharge through a transistor" approach is, and haven't yet found anything about it in searches.

Using VFO - BFO (25.998600 MHZ -?11.998600 MHZ), the VFO is greatly attenuated when it reaches T2. All I'm getting is 700 mv p-p.

I am assuming that the Q7 to Q9 circuitry is attenuating it. Maybe C91 and C92 have something to do with it. I will investigate.

Guess I can try switching to VFO + BFO to check.

I will post my results.
