Re: Sbitx SSB audio quality.

Paul

It certainly made a difference for me, with the new insert I have mic gain set at 27 now which seemed about right for my voice which is quite bassey to start with. Probably need to find a way to adjust frequency reaponse to really get the best out of it but happy it is working now :-)
Next adjustment is receive audio now as there is a high level of noise even without an antenna connected as well as quite low audio gain as rx volume setting needs to be in the 90-100 setting to be usable.
I did notice when I was working on USB headset connectivity that I can reduce the background level of noise as part of the command line approach I tried but not enough audio gain for that approach yet, still work in progress :-)

Paul

Re: Sbitx SSB audio quality.

Paul,
Thanks for the tip about the -24dB sensitivity microphone. I looked at many links, and finally found pieces available for me at Reichelt(de).
Until now, it only had a sensitivity of -35 dB, which I managed to get. Unfortunately, it is in the places recommended by Gordon that are inaccessible to me.
I hope it arrives next week.

Thank you for your response to my query.

Hello Ameer,

If I had to guess, I think that the Github server was having issues pulling the files or the internet connection was intermittent. Could you try to download again?

Here is what you should see.
?

If that doesn't work, then you can try to download the zip file and unpack the files on your sBitx from??

CW recieve settings

Hello,
Just updated to the nextion display and am super excited by how well it works compared to the stock display/firmware. The ssb sounds amazing but when I switch to CW the audio sounds (as best as I can describe it) thin. If I activate the IF shift and slide the control all the way to the right it sounds a little better but still not that great. Any suggestions as to how to adjust the CW receive or any mods to do (haven't done the agc yet)? Thanks!

Some of these cartridges won¡¯t work with the +12 volts from the sbitx circuitry

The AC load for the Mike is much lower than the 10 K DC source impedance to +Vcc. (take a look at the schematic ) So just put a 15 or 20 K to ground from the Mic terminal and your electret cartridge may work better. ?The PUI device with -24Dboutput is much higher output. ?Once the DC Drive is under control things are much nicer.?

I had already fixed my developers edition, today I worked on the V2 edition.?

It was suggested that I replace the insert with something that has -24dB sensitivity, the part number I eventually got hold of was a PUI Audio Inc. AOM-5024L-HD-R.
I replaced the stock supplied electret insert with this and the improvement was indeed a positive one, today operating /P activating a couple of UK Bunkers on the Air sites on 40m resulted in 65 successful contacts across the UK and into Europe with positive unsolicited audio reports received, I have to add I removed the foam as well, based on progress so far, not likely to change anything else at this stage from a tx perspective. I was running the radio barefoot into an end fed halfwave antenna so tx audio quality is key to success when running low power SSB.
Thought I would add something positive for the TX SSB audio discussions to indicate an easy fix that works, for me anyway

No, I didn't wrote any values, when I took the screenshot. Everything works fine for now.?
Can wrong calibration can lower the power output?I have some weird feeling for 20 Meters lately.?

Ameer,

Excuse me for interrupting:
was the previous version installed before?
If so, it must be removed first, and then it can be installed by cloning.
I note that this is an unfamiliar message to me, I have not come across such a message.
I had an earlier version installed, so I did it like this after calling the terminal:

Hello Mukund,

Page 11 of the manual?? describes how to connect.

I will break it down in easy steps..

  1. Start sBitx and make sure it is receiving signals.
  2. Open the Scanner application.
  3. Press Main from the top menu
  4. Press Connect
  5. Set the parameters for your scanning range and press Start.

It's important to understand that the sBitx Scanner app can operate with the sBitx transceiver without needing an internet connection.

However, to use the Windows application, your computer must be connected to a network (via WiFi or Ethernet) that is also connected to the sBitx transceiver. Ensure that your sBitx transceiver has WiFi or Ethernet enabled for this setup. To verify the communication between your sBitx transceiver and computer, you can perform a simple test by executing the following steps on your Windows computer:
?
  1. Press and hold the Windows key, then press 'R'.
  2. Enter "cmd" and press enter.
  3. Type "ping sbitx.local" and press enter.

If you receive a response back like this, then you are able to connect to the sBitx transceiver and try the steps above.?
