Re: ubitx v6.1 assembled but no audio output #ubitx6-help

To be clear, by lack of audio, I mean that there is no reception at all. In most videos I see online, there is a ¡°noise¡± that¡¯s heard. So I assumed I might have done something wrong¡ I mean without tweaking the BFO. Or am I understanding this wrong?

for eg upon assembly and adding a rudimentary antenna, I expect there to be some noise at ham frequencies? Not blaming the device! Just trying to figure this out!

Maybe I misunderstood something but my V6 did not work correctly until I reset the BFO. This was a year ago. ?The instructions were adequate for a 77 year old ham to figure it out without too much pain. ?Also, has to make a mod to get it to work with CW. ?I am still using the original firmware. ?I used a KiWiSDR 70 miles away to listen to myself as I changed things ever so slightly.

Now I have a neat radio to play with for $206.00 from India. ?

It might be helpful to lock the BFO settings. ?It might have been something else but adjusting the BFO fixed it for me.

If it ain¡¯t broke break it so I can fix it¡..Ha!

I would suspect a suboptimal antenna in your case. There are a number of other tests to carry out before messing up with the bfo settings. If you are a new ham, there are few ways to mess up your ubitxes. The worst way is to try setting the bfo.
Unfortunately, this is buttressed by many experienced hams talking about their exploits with the bfo settings. I think we should consider a new arduino sketch that takes away the ability to change the bfo settings.

Dear friends,

I am a new ham from south India. I assembled the ubitx v6.1 few months back. I have connected a receiving antenna (for now a length of wire for recieving/testing). When I switch it on, the panel lights up as expected and displays all options as expected. I keep the volume dial at max but hear nothing/not even noise. I have looked online already at the BFO alignment video tutorial provided by hfsignals, but in those videos too, the unit is producing some noise. Can anyone point me to possible leads/solutions???

T41 book

Jack, W8TEE

All:

First, I posted this to multiple sites to tell you NOT to buy something. Let me explain.

Al and I have been discussing our book and have planned changes for it to the extent that we are going to do a revised edition, not one that just corrects typos and the like. The normal procedure followed by publishers is to put the revised edition of the shelves first and then tell everyone about it. That way sales don't dry up before the revised edition comes out. That's not right, especially with the Holidays coming up. If you were planning on giving the T41 book as a gift, take a 5x3 card and write on it that, if they still want the book when the new edition comes out (March 1st, we hope),? they will get the revised edition of the book.

We have both learned a lot in the months since the book first came out. We want to pass that new and more in-depth information on to the reader. I am taking a fresh look at the software from the perspective of not only telling what a certain piece of code does, but will try to point out how you can modify the code for reuse. There are lots of functions that might be useful in other applications, too. There are software/hardware blends that will be covered, too.

We're always asked: "Should I buy a new copy of the book?" I almost always say "No" on revised or new editions. Most new editions have only minor changes to the subject material. While we do expect to plow new ground in the revised edition, If you already have a copy, stick with that for now. See what the reviews says after the new book has been out for a while.

So, if you're thinking about buying the book, hold off for now. We think it will be worth the wait.

PAINTSVILLE (KY) HAS A PARK AND PICK-NICK AREA BESIDE IT. (KY has many state parks beside lakes)

?I have forwarded the original message to the (Paintsville) club president as a good idea. To connect it to our hobby, it would be another good idea (I believe) to make it like a contest or, at least, to issue a special QSL card for those who operate QRP/solar/battery power.
