The ubitx comes factory set with the bfo and clock. There is some unfounded feeling that it needs to be tweaked, resulting in unusable ubitxes.
The enclosed note in the box too warns against it.
I would suspect a suboptimal antenna in your case. There are a number of other tests to carry out before messing up with the bfo settings. If you are a new ham, there are few ways to mess up your ubitxes. The worst way is to try setting the bfo.
Unfortunately, this is buttressed by many experienced hams talking about their exploits with the bfo settings. I think we should consider a new arduino sketch that takes away the ability to change the bfo settings.

Dear friends,
I am a new ham from south India. I assembled the ubitx v6.1 few months back. I have connected a receiving antenna (for now a length of wire for recieving/testing). When I switch it on, the panel lights up as expected and displays all options as expected. I keep the volume dial at max but hear nothing/not even noise. I have looked online already at the BFO alignment video tutorial provided by hfsignals, but in those videos too, the unit is producing some noise. Can anyone point me to possible leads/solutions???
