Re: UBITX6 Will Not Select 17 Meters
Jack, W8TEE
I have a beginning C book I can recommend! Also, I have been asked to do a programming series for Nuts and Volts, which is aimed at the "recreational" programmer. The goal is to point out how to avoid RDC (Really Dumb Code--i.e., code that works, but not well) and move to SDC (Sorta Dumb Code--like most of my code). I have no idea when the series will start, but will put a post here when I find out. Jack, W8TEE

Just adjustment of? the setup bfo freq? are you referring to something else? I haven't got into using arduino edits to this point if there are software settings that can be modified.

TSW (the Triumvirate Skonk Worx of W0EB, W2CTX and N5IB) are pleased to announce the immediate availability of an inexpensive plug-in adapter that will allow a PJRC.com Teensy 4.0 with a 600 MHz processor and lots of flash program memory to directly replace the NANO in a V6 uBITX Raduino!
We also have available (open source) software for same Teensy 4.0 that runs and looks almost exactly like the original factory V6 software except it's many times faster and with lots of program space, has a few extra niceties built in.? The adapter kit is available now, and details on how to purchase one can be found on the TSW website - .? The software is also available in the "uBITX files directory via the link near the top of the page on the TSW website. I have one running extremely well on an actual Version 6 uBITX (basic kit) that I received a day before Christmas.? I built it up using a 3D printed front panel & base I designed using the factory supplied acrylic front panel template for dimensions. One nice thing about using the Teensy 4 instead of the NANO aside from the display speed is that it eliminates many of the birdies associated with the various oscillators on the NANO board and I can detect NO tuning clicks when the encoder is turned.? The only drawback is with the 3.3V max input levels for the Teensy 4.0, the Factory's keyer code had to be abandoned, R2 had to be removed and the trace that goes from input pin A6 to the NANO and the "KEYER" pin on the 18 pin right angle connector must be cut to use the adapter with a V6 Raduino.? If this isn't done, +5V gets applied to the A6 input pin on the Teensy and will destroy the ADC in the Teensy.? We tried applying 3.3V to the Vcc side of R2 but the voltage divider outputs weren't read reliably by the Teensy's ADC and the keyer didn't work well at all.? We re-wrote the keyer to use the A6 and A7(spare) inputs with A6 being the DOT input and A7 being the DASH input.? This also requires a separate jack for the paddles but makes the keyer really sing if the mods are done. TSW also plans our own Raduino Clone for the V6 that will have pluggable jumpers to cover removing the voltages and will operate exactly as a Factory Raduino using a NANO or by setting the jumpers work with the Teensy 4/adapter in place of the nano without cutting any traces or removing R2.? This will be available as soon as the PC boards get here and are tested, possibly next week sometime.? It's dimensions will be such that with the 2.8" ILI9341 TFT display mounted, it will directly replace a Factory Raduino.? It will be offered only as a kit but the kit price will be reasonable.? With the kit, the display and Teensy will not be supplied as they are readily available via PJRC and other suppliers. Re: mbitx V5 versus V6
Good grief!? Okay maybe this cartoon wasn't imported everywhere (Charlie Brown).?
v5 is a very nice rig - its a v4 without the bugs I am dealing with.? enjoy the v5.? honestly I appreciate the work that went into my v4.? and the upgrades are part of the journey.? building a board and shipping it worldwide is a big effort.? do the math it can't be a huge money maker.? appreciate we are invited into the build opportunity.? I won't write off any real quality control matters - do politely work those.? HFSignals does not have a huge complex, nor any storefront at all.? if you prefer that kind of business - they are out there.? meanwhile with every QSO I make, this ubitx rocks!? and I enjoy improving it - and having it 'my way' (which is functional and rather basic) - while others are having a blast making theirs exotic.? and we can trust some hams around the world are getting a rig when other options are beyond their means - particularly many youth is the world.? enjoy your radiations!? Re: UBITX6 Will Not Select 17 Meters
Good catch on the "F", K7OME. Looks like it should be an 0xE2 instead. Best thing to do there would be to do one (or more) of the following:
a) make the fix, and create a pull request for it (best) b) create an "issue" on github documenting the problem (decent) c) mention it in a thread here (as you did, which is okay, but not ideal :P) Reed |

Hello Steve, ??????????????????? How can these people get away with it,i shall certainly make my feelings known about these people, that issue bodged up radios to con us europeans. My friend in the uk has similar problems with his v6,are we going to to get our money back for shoddy workmanship i dont think so,this is the last time i buy from these lot?.if they were in the the uk i would take them to court i sent them photos of the damage to the radio ITS DISGUSTING I just hope that my email warns other prospective buyers away unless they sort there crap out..So disappointed i have supported them since Version 3 but ive learnt my lesson what a load of rubbish so much wrong and missing componants and also lack of wrapping to preserve my purchase...Dave.. Re: UBITX6 Will Not Select 17 Meters
FWIW I did make the correction to 17 meters and now it works fine.? While I was in there I took out all the CAT related code as I don't plan to use this radio with a computer and I figured that would save a little space for future enhancements.
This should probably be in a different thread but:? is there any info on the status of the Morse reader code?? Finishing that is more than I can handle but I did see that the 'F' was mis-coded as an 'L' .... |
Re: Ubitx V6 Nextion 2.8" Display Modification
I have read on Groups.io that the Nextion editor does have an invert setting that will allow for mounting the display with the microSD card on the top.? It would require downloading, installing and then recompiling? and downloading the Nextion display pages, though it is doable.

Re: Ubitx V6 Nextion 2.8" Display Modification
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSounds excellent. I may do what you did. I¡¯m looking at ways to save on current and I really like the CDC code. If you remove the 5v from the display I assume the radio will still operate? With your hookup it would be easy to add a switch. On Jan 6, 2020, at 4:50 PM, wb2cba@... wrote:

I use the CEC Memory Manager to set it on my rig.? I believe that the CEC software maintained the v4 type Calibration menu.? When you press the encoder a yellow rectangle with the stock menu items comes up and you roll through with the encoder to the Settings menu, press and then go back and select BFO.
Memory Manager can read the current configuration and save it so? you can try out a new setting, and always go right back to a prior one that worked. I used it for both of my Nextion display uBitx (v4 and v5). All of the links for the CEC software should be on this page: ? including Memory Manager. Post back if you have any issues. Re: mbitx V5 versus V6
Dave,
Do not hold your Breath as you may turn a bit Blue. The "Early Adopters"? like usual got the shaft by Hf Signals, my $209 DHL Express? package had no Bubble wrap on any item if it was not for the DHL sturdy plastic bag the cheap cardboard box that contained the "kit" would have been all over the shipping world, I looked at my original 40 meter BTX and the box was 100% sturdier and that went via India Post. And we only have V5 with a low slow color display that may not be salvageable The Shock to me was? to? after find out after payment that the Firmware right out of the box has a bug dealing with 17 meters that requires a new load that I was not set up to perform .Disappointed at the Shoddy Packaging and Shipping protection.. I guess it was my mistake and assumption that a V6 radio would have all of the corrections of all of the previous versions but in reality is just a attempt by HF Signals to capture revenue before before the new year and getting a V5 board? cleared out and calling it a V6. I guess with the add-ons of the ALC and other ones to come after full discovering? the China clones of the little? DSP? color screen "KX3" like? radio? are looking much better in the long run. Best Regards. Steve AB2ET/4 |

Hi David,
I was describing the features of the Groups.io web interface.? I don't view groups using email because it doesn't make sense to me.? One misses all the other features of a group such as this hashtags feature, as well is the group wiki, files, and photo sections. Yep Dennis, but I think many have yet to discover the advantages of the feature, also, since I don't access the groups via emails, I'm not sure how the feature works there.? Maybe one can type in the hashtags manualy but I'm not sure? 73, Mark. |
