There's also the very handy stylus that came with the kit.? Indispensable, IMO, since I have fat fingers.

Mark,
Just before you ship it to someone else.. the rig is eniterly usable without the touch too. Here is how :
Tap the tuning knob and a white square showing the focus will appear around one of the buttons or frequencies. Use the tuning knob to move it to the other button. Press again to select. If you press it over an already selected frequency, it falls into fast tuning mode, press again for normal tuning. I didn't get around to doing the same with the setup menu but it is used just a few times in the life of the rig.

Except that you have to drill a hole in that beautiful factory case to mount an extra paddle input?

Or did I miss something?

Good news gang,? I've found an easy way to keep from having to make ANY hardware mods to the Factory V6 Raduino.? When I mentioned that you have to protect the Teensy 4 from the +5V on the A6 input pin by removing R2 (the keyer pullup resistor) and cutting the line from A6 to the KEYER pin on the right angle plug to the main board, I'm sure that turned many of you off, not wanting to modify your Factory Raduino by cutting traces.

I am kicking myself now as I forgot there are more I/O pins available on the Teensy then ever were on a NANO.? We have not implemented all of these, but it so happens that there are 2 of those extra inputs that ARE brought out to pads on the adapter board, the A8 and A9 inputs.?

The simple solution is, when building our adapter, simply leave out (or cut off) the pin that plugs into the A6 input on the Raduino's NANO socket.? This eliminates any possibility of the Keyer line causing any problems.? Since the keyer does not work reliably with 3.3V applied to the Teensy's A6 input and a different Keyer routine had to be used with a separate Paddle Jack, there is no reason that the extra paddle jack can't be connected to the A8 for dot and A9 for dash (or the other way around) paddle connections with a separate 3.5mm stereo jack used for paddle input.? The hand key stays on the PTT A3 input where it is in the first place, no changes needed there.?

It's an extremely simple software change in our software to use those inputs rather than A6 and A7.? That way A7 can remain a spare as it is on the factory Raduino and NO repeat NO hardware mods are needed to the V6 Raduino.? I'll post a revised construction manual for the Adapter kit later this morning and all future kits will be supplied with a 3 pin, right angle header to go in the extra pads.? Right angle is needed to keep it from interfering with the Teensy's USB connector which is used for programming and CAT control.

Re: mbitx V5 versus V6

Gordon,
I do not think that the India Post individuals would be unpacking? and then repacking ALL of the "kits" checking for What?
I am sure that with all of the radios that Hf Signals shipped over the years India Post? would be familiar and good with the routine.
When I ordered my "Full kit" I selected the DHL option, when DHL delivered I made a GOOD examination of the "Envelope" and did not see any "damage" I did notice a packing pressure that one can expect when similar packages are squishes together.
On opening I was surprised on the thins cardboard packing box which showed numerous creases? and the lack of (minimal) protection of the internal countenance, as I indicated I previously I had to straighten (square up) the back panel.
It is my belief that if I was to not pick the DHL option which provided a bit more "protection" of the countenance by the carrier the flimsy packing would be all over the world.
I should have taken pictures and then compared to? the 100% sturdier? "repurposed" cardboard box of? my 2016 BTX ,that I still have with my cookie tin original.
Enough of this, yes this has been a disappointment and hopefully a learning lesson for all .
Best Regard.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Good news,
I ordered my v6 on Dec21st and received it Jan 3rd. It was Packed well and no damage. I spent about 3 hours building it (I used the front plate template, no case yet) and installing a MFJ 1984 end fed antenna. So far I have listened to several conversations from USA and Europe! My QTH is Sarnia Ontario Canada. This my first HF rig and I like it so far.
As for changes I¡¯ll probably try Reed¡¯s screen speed improvement and the Beofeng mic upgrade ( I¡¯ve already made this change to my u/vhf beofeng mic).?
First though I want to confirm with some QSO¡¯s that the rig is transmitting.
I do hear AM radio in the background so Im looking through the threads that talk about filtering out the noise.

Ashhar, I want to say thanks for this Rig and let you know not all shipments are bad!

And hind sight being 20/20 I wish I had ordered the V6 with case.

BITX40 kit.

?I bought a bare

?I will say it is not really a beginners project. Mine will be a BITX20 when I get it done.
?I have 2 of Farhans BITX40's, one just pre Raduno, so no need for a 3rd.
?Sunil did have a couple of other kits, have not looked at his site for a bit.
?I like building things, always have.
?I purchased a case that will hold my BITX20 and amp/power supply board.
?Have an aluminium case that one BITX40 will go into, undecided on the other.

Can you add a little more about uploading the sketch? For example: does one have to separately add the libraries like EEPROM, wire and the other #includes?

If Customs is where the problem is occurring, hopefully the hfsignals people can work out a solution, but it isn't appropriate to be castigating them for something that a governmental authority may have caused.?

Re: ubitx #v6 Screen Speed Mod #v6

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you're enjoying the speed.

Many of those issues are present in the stock firmware, and since I tried to limit the changes in this branch to just those affecting screen performance, they persist as bugs here too. I hope to continue squashing bugs and improving the firmware more over time, but it won't happen on this branch.

I went ahead and created an issue to track the sub-1MHz problem, since I remembered that mentioned before, and it's particularly important:

For the other issues, I hope that as I get around to cleaning up various parts of the code, they'll be fixed "for free", but you're welcome to create individual issues for them on Ashhar's github like I did above if you want to ensure they're not forgotten.

Re: Sotabeams DSP cw/SSB filter insertion rf in audio

Thanks Dennis,
the board is on the far left of the ubitx board. It¡¯s not a big case so not much more room. I will replace the audio wire with shielded cables to see if it helps.?

Thanks Howard,
Since you us the Sotabeams lm386 circuit, does that mean you are bypassing the ubitx onboard lm386 portion of the circuit?

Also do you guys have the Sotabeams filter powered all the time, or is it unpowered during transmit?

Re: Help with troubleshooting Bitx40 - no transmit. #bitx40help

I'm not sure what would account for that physically or electrically...Regardless, I would replace them and probably the transistor to restore operation...Jim

But great!? Well done.

Re: ubitx #v6 Screen Speed Mod #v6

Hi Reed,

Loaded today's commit, a quantup leap in screen response time.

Observations -
TFT USB/LSB buttons do not change CLK1 consistently.
CAT from HRD changes CLK1?but TFT USB/LSB indicators do not change
Tuning below 1mHz tunes Si5351 correctly but gives 9999.50 display indication.
Tuning encoder smoothly changes CLK frequency but TFT display lags.
Might it be possible at some stage to add a decimal point (or a small space) between the displayed mHz digit and 100s of kHz?

Thank you, great work,

Re: [uBITx V6] #V6 Query re USB 4 port expander implementation #v6

This is what I use on a uBITx v5. Not powered Maxxter. Holding the usb soundcard connected directly to uBITx Mic and Speaker ports. Then usb cable to uBITx Raduino. At left RTL-SDR dongle connected to SDR signal at IF of the uBITx and into the laptop via usb.
