Re: How to connect a TX-RX LED to the BITX40 ?
Ian Reeve
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThis works perfectly as a rx/tx indicator using a bi-colour (red/green) led. In the uBITX case, the led is for me too bright so I have increased the value of the ?series resistors to suit. Mine are 1.8K,personal choice, mileage may vary. ? 73 ? Ian M0IDR ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> on behalf of Woody <mailme@...>

This is what I would do...??? At least for the uBITX,
Don't have the schematic for the '40.
Maybe similar? The T/R relay is at the lower left of the uBITX schematic. 680 ohms will yield ~17 ma for the LED,? 1000 ohms for ~12 ma.?? ...etc. LED addition in red. On 10/17/2018 0:06, Andy Sagoya via Groups.Io wrote: Hello, |

Re: stl for dlwattmeter
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI would like to ask the size of the can (I assume it is a quart), the brand of mineral oil you used, and sources for both. I did not see that information in the article/webpage. I haven't had any dealings with mineral oil and would appreciate knowing of some good for 100 Watts of RF. I agree, build-it projects are good! Thanks, Guy, you note is appreciated. We plan to keep badgering editors to have more construction projects, as we think there are a fairly significant number of us out here who really do enjoy building "stuff"! Again, thanks! Jack, W8TEE

Re: Simple spur fix
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Raj, ? I have ver 4 of the uBITX board. Adjusting the BFO frequency a bit brought the carrier down to below -40dBS so I am good to go there. However, I still have this semi-distorted whisper of my voice coming out of the speaker when I transmit. It happens on all bands but is most notable at 80 and 40 meters. A picture of the filter board as connected is attached. This issue doesn¡¯t appear to negatively effect the audio of my transmitted signal. I am getting good audio reports. ? Previous to this mod I had installed just the 45 mhz crystal filter ?to address the spurs issue and didn¡¯t notice any audio in the speaker when I was transmitting. ? Tomorrow I am going to pull the filter board and install just the crystal filter again to see what happens ? Ripley ? Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: Raj vu2zap

Re: Harmonics and Relay Replacement
I suppose that the prescribed relay was 23105 5403 A201. i see that your relay has 5303 instead. was it a typo? regards sarma vu3zmv On Wed, 17 Oct 2018 03:22 Kees T, <windy10605@...> wrote: It's very difficult (impossible) to do anything inside the relay. While I¡¯m sure there¡¯re better ways, I¡¯d connect the RX LED to your AGC circuit and the TX to the Mic PTT line. Now, would someone care to explain why these are inappropriate? I¡¯m new here too.

Re: uBITX40 : audio is meowing and not understandable.
After a brief encounter of grounding the +5v I got to replace the nano.?
To get the old one off I used a small dykes and nibbled the board away from the pins. Once the board came off I desoldered the pins individually. I too put in a socket but had to turn it around? and replace the nano with a nano that did not have presoldered pins. I don't think I will need to replace the nano again but having the socket gives peace of mind. ------------ That said It sounds like the bfo is off frequency. I have the Allard firmware in my bitx40 and it is a simple menu selection to adjust the bfo. After I installed the Allard firmware the bfo was off quite a bit. When I hear Italians speak I can't understand them. Although I don't think the voices are quite cat like.? |

Mike, WA8ISP, also sold clones. He had them both in kit form and prebuilt, but I haven't seen him here lately unless he's just lost in the noise.

Re: Harmonics and Relay Replacement
It's very difficult (impossible) to do anything inside the relay. Those 47nF capacitors from both ends of the coil to the nearest ground definitely help reduce the coupling with ALL the relays tried so far. I believe Arv suggested doing that.
I'm at a loss for the proper way to test coupling through the relay from one side to the other and/or through the N/O contact. The AXICOM spec says the RF isolation at 100MHz is -39dB. 73 Kees K5BCQ |
