This is what I would do...??? At least for the uBITX, Don't have the schematic for the '40.
Maybe similar?
The T/R relay is at the lower left of the uBITX schematic.
680 ohms will yield ~17 ma for the LED,? 1000 ohms for ~12 ma.?? ...etc.
LED addition in red.
