JIm,
I agree with your points and also agree with Gordons, too.

I would suggest if you can buy them for $5 from china, thats pretty cheap on the price.

And if you can bundle them into a nice price, you could buy a boatload and resell them to other hams and make some nice money. Im a tight budgeted ham who would probably either dig into my junk box . I try not to buy every? new board that comes out on the market unless its revolutional to my setup.HI HI.I can only afford so much on my fixed income. Just depends on which path we each travel down.

Also, if Gordon is releasing the gerbers and such for free, WOW. Any tech stuff thats free is great.

Anyway see you both on the bands.

By the way, My wife says IM THE ORIGINAL GRUMPY MAN .hi hi

Dear self-described grumpy old man!

What a hoot! ?I think you missed a few details?

I don¡¯t make these boards at all.?

I don¡¯t sell them either - so maybe that¡¯s why I don¡¯t advertise a price???

If you want these boards you¡¯ll have to go to pcbway.com and order them from them! ?(I¡¯m not crazy enough to get into the business of selling boards, I retired from being a physician and now I teach AP courses for chicken feed, for the joy of helping youngsters¡ª it¡¯s great fun. A lot of work too!! I have to create two exams by tomorrow

I¡¯m pretty sure that pcbway.com has a really attractive price for five or 10 boards and that may be what you found, but I really don¡¯t know because it¡¯s been a good time since I ordered from them. ?I bet you can find the Gerbers because I probably made those available for free also, and thus you could have these boards made in the United States for 10 times that price. ?Or you could photo resist and make them yourself. ?
Or it¡¯s a simple enough project that you could just make it on any kind of perfboard

But I¡¯m sorry that you were upset that I made the Gerbers and the project available for free,.... and that you might need to join with a few other folks to take advantage of volume pricing from commercial vendors. ? ? ?

I think we ordered maybe 30 boards and have probably built 2/3 of them already to protect a slew of expensive gear here in the United States, probably well exceeding $125,000. ? Most of it not even ours! We did it to protect the gear of our county.

what a hoot! I hope you have a great day, A little humor at our own selves in our own foibles goes a long way

?Gordon,

I clicked through all the stuff to see about getting a PCB for the reverse voltage protection device.

After a few pages, I was disappointed to see an asking price of USD$28 and change. ?Really???

A couple of points. ?First, anybody offering anything for sale online NEEDS to show the price on the first landing page. ?It's an unfortunate and objectionable trend for sellers not to do that, and personally I think it stinks, especially when I could get this PCB made in China for $5 each or less in small quantities -- like, USD$28 would pay for at least half a dozen, delivered.

Next, if something is going to cost an arm and a leg, you really ought to say so up front. ?Not all of us are millionaires these days.

This little board is an ingenious product, but if it costs nearly as much as the expensive equipment it's supposed to protect, what's the point of anybody buying it? ?We can just blow up our good stuff and replace it, if the protection circuitry costs more than what's being protected.

File me as "Grumpy Old Man". ?Thank you.
