Re: Question re transceiver kit UBITX v6

VE3DLG,

I have not read of this issue on this forum, though others may have experienced it.??

You can send an email to support@...,?though not sure that there is a warranty.? Hard to warrant kits as there are too many possibilities for the builder to do something outside of the capabilities of the device.

The first thing that comes to my mind is that your power source for the radio might have sent a surge that then caused the 5volt regulator to fail.? I would start by verifying the 12volt and 5volt supplies.? You will need to download the schematic to trace the power lines to the display.

Verify that there are 12volts on the P1 power connector on both pins 1 and 2.? Then measure the 5volt on pin 6 of the Controls header (the one that goes to the tuning encoder).? The Raduino schematic is here:

If you do have the 12volts, then remove the display and Raduino (the 2 boards that are held together with the standoffs) and connect a 5volt USB supply through the USB port on the Nano.? If that will power it up, then there is an issue with the mainboard.? If not, then you will need to load the Arduino IDE from Arduino.org, remove the Nano from the Raduino, and verify that the nano will connect and power up.? Do not try to change the program at this time.? You need the original software prior to downloading anything to the Nano.? I am just suggesting we use a different power source to see if the Raduino with the display will come up.

Ashhar Farhan, the main developer of the HFSignals ?BiTX, has a video of how to upload a new Nano program, though this is the last resort.

NOTE: If you need to install a new Nano, then you will need to calibrate the ?BiTX as the calibration values are stored in the Nano.? Updating the program does not change these values.

The two most common causes that I have seen for the issue you describe are the Nano fails, or the 5volt regulator fails after the simple power supply issues are factored out.? Depending on the problem, you would need a new Nano or new regulator if not a mainboard issue.

Good luck with finding your issue.
