hi Fernando, the regulator is U2, a SMD LM78L09. i am fortunate enough to have two bitx40 boards and was using one to diagnose a problem on the other. the problem quickly became apparent after burning the tip of my finger by touching the bad 9v regulator. it had a short and was pulling quite some current. i replaced it with a good one from ebay and the board worked fine. however in my haste and exuberance, i reverse polarized the other working board and had a new patient on the operating table. that one gave an open circuit on the U2 9v regulator (along with the other crispy components). i have not changed out the rf drive components but have fresh parts on order for this purpose.
