The wire from the power source to the radio should be a gauge heavy
enough to carry, indefinitely without significant heating, enough
current to trip the current limitter (fuse, circuit breaker, or power
supply current limit). But other factors are to be taken into
consideration. For a 13 VDC system, the voltage drop on the wire at
maximum current draw should be less than 0.5 volts, so for very long
wire runs a heavier gauge wire should be used.

To make it simple, for a short run from the power supply to the BitX,
I'd use #20 wire or heavier, although #22 would also do the job. FWIW,
I believe that the internal power wires are #24 maximum.
