Re: Discrepancy between max CW output power and max USB output power

Well, maybe I am the ONLY person interested in this, but here is what I ended up doing:

1)? I raised the clip value for voice by the square root of 2 to allow for twice as much voice or mic-input digital power (e.g. NBEMS / FLDGI, VARA, etc)
(recall that I have zeners on the gates....probably should eventually change those out for TVS)
2)? Remember I bought this radio "used" and I've upgraded and might have lost the original settings in my confusions.? ?I noticed the power on LOWER sideband was very different from UPPER sideband -- and similarly on CWR / CW.? ?Mapping the responses, I ended up moving the BFO by 2.4 kHz to even them out reasonably well.
3)? Then by measuring the power at 50% drive on all bands and doing some math (and some trial and error to be sure!)? I adjusted the scale factors for each band to allow for 100% being a SAFE power and not flattopping on CWR (which makes slightly more power now than CW).? ?[all of this into a 50 ohm dummy load]
4)? The resulting power on Winlink was now quite reasonable.? ? I might be able to raise the clipping slightly more, but good enough for now? ("enemy of good is better")

A friend came over to get some help with a 20 meter bandpass filter he is building for the Winter Field Day and he was pleasantly surprised at how my homebrew "go - box" is coming along.? ?

I had already used this to make some data/Winlink connections and used it to give a bit of a zoom talk to our group for getting ready for Winter Field Day, and it has been excellent except for low power.? ?I think that will now be reasonably fixed!? ?My go box connections make it possible for me to have any of several types of keys/keyers and mics, earphones, Signalink etc easiiy working.? ?The sBitx works well as the centerpiece of all that.? ? This is the first time I've used the "V3" software and so far it looks FINE.? ?Much appreciated.? ??

(No smoke today despite all this fiddling with various constants, etc)? ?
