Clearly I’m not understanding how to align my uBitx V6.2.? I only operate CW.? No matter how I attempt to correctly align the transceiver using the HFSignals youtube channel instructions, and the app, the rig transmits on a different frequency than it receives.? I need to set negative tone to get it on frequency and the internal limits do not permit negative frequency tones even though there are positive and negative tones in nature.

Align the zero beat on an AM station.? Perfect!? Align the BFO.? Perfect!? Set the tone to 800 Hz, and it is off frequency by about 1.6 KHz.? It needs to be set to -800 Hz.? Why the menu cares if it is below 100 Hz is beyond me.?

Being unable to complete a QSO, after hours of fiddling with this, I finally went out and bought another HF receivere that can at least hear CW.? It’s an ATS-25.? Today is field day.? Spent hours setting everything up and was unable to work a QSO.? I finally gave up trying to transceive and set the ATS-25 to the frequency that the uBitx was using on transmit.? Using it as a receiver the rig is way off frequency on receive.

Clearly I’m not understanding how to align this radio.? And part of the issue is the way it fumbles with USB/LSB on CW.? I’ve never owned a rig that is unable to decipher whether it is operating above 10 MHz or not.? On 20M, is the rig supposed to be set on USB or LSB for CW ops?

Normally, on every other rig I’ve owned (dozens and dozens of different radios by the way), when in CW you should be able to switch between LSB and USB and hear the same tone you have set the rig to.? The passband will be inverted when a CCW tuning down in one mode and up in the other.

One of the things I’m struggling with is the way it stores settings.? Turning off the radio seems to set the settings.? But what about USB/LSB when in CW?? No manual describes how the setting are supposed to work in CW.? It seems to default to LSB even on 20M, which is clearly a bug.? If I tune the tone down to 100 Hz I can sort of hear the rig outside the passband of the ATS-25.? When set to 800 Hz (my normal setting) it is about 1.6 KHz off frequency.? Most ops will never hear me and sure enough, after a hundred attempts to figure out setting how the rig will operate on the right frequency, no joy until I use a second receiver and just listen on the frequency it is using.

The Tone setting seems to be getting dialed in as I reduce the tone to the minimum.? At 100Hz (the lowest setting), I can sort of hear it way off frequency but within the passband.? It wants me to set it as a -800 Hz and the menu will not permit negative tones.? It is almost as if the high versus low side injection is set backwards when in CW mode, which may also explain why the frequency needs to be reset when moving from USB to CW mode.

I’ve considered attempting to use the split mode but the menu is beyond confusing and impossible to navigate in a straight forward manner.? Every time the tuning knob moves, the split needs to be reset.
