I appear to have been able to tune the BFO using the online tuning aid.? The white noise response matched that in the video.? I also tuned the frequency and was able to pick up FT8 chatter on 7.074 while on USB, which seems correct.? However, when I switch to 14.074 for FT8, I have to tune off frequency to pick up the FT8 sounds.
For tuning, I was set to 10MHz (W1AW, I guess?) and tuned using the AM carrier I picked up.? It didn't quite work the way it did in Ashhar's video though.? I'm guessing my tuning isn't quite right.? I'm currently using Reed's firmware.? I'll probably try with the original firmware next.? I'd like to know if there's a more...scientific...way of calibrating the frequency.? I saw the SDR method for tuning the BFO which I'll try when I get the frequency close.? I have at my disposal an arbitrary waveform generator, spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope.
