San Francisco Vegan Society's biggest event of the year, World Vegan Fest, is just around the corner! In today's newsletter, you will find out how to get tickets, sign up for volunteer shifts, and prepare for this year's contests. San Francisco Vegan Society invites you to our 25th annual World Vegan Fest on Sunday, October 20, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the San Francisco County Fair Building, 1199 9th Avenue, in Golden Gate Park.?Join us for a wonderful day filled with fun, food, education, entertainment, and activities for the whole family!?

All current San Francisco Vegan Society members may attend World Vegan Fest for free and bring one guest free of charge

Children and teens (17 or younger) can attend World Veg Fest for free

All cookie contestants will get into World Vegan Fest for FREE and the winner of the contest will get a fabulous prize AND bragging rights for a full year!

Halloween is just around the corner! We are going to start the festivities early with our World Vegan Fest Costume Contest! If you - or you and your crew - come to World Vegan Fest in costume, you will get into the event for FREE and get a chance to win awesome prizes!
To enter the costume contest, please send an email to volunteer@.... Creative vegetable and fruit costume themes are encouraged but not mandatory. The contest is open to all ages! Remember World Vegan Fest is a kid-friendly event, please keep your costumes G-rated. The costume contest will begin promptly after the cookie contest.

I didn¡¯t know of this myth.? I was so happy to see the nice diving videos and her ¡°appreciation¡± for the natural beauty, which I thought would renew her love of life and interest in dating.? But, then I got so sad when I saw her rip the beautiful urchins from their home, crack them open, and eat them alive.? Really sickening stuff. ?
Reminded me if a commercial for Gordon Ramsey¡¯s show on Nat Geo where he pulls up an incredibly beautiful octopus out of the ocean and onto his boat, then takes a bite out of this innocent living creature.

Gov. Newsom: Sign 5 Critical Climate and Wildlife Bills
Five bills await the governor's signature ¡ª help ensure they become law.
?
Thanks to your advocacy, the California legislature has passed five critical bills to protect people, wildlife, and the climate.
Three of them address the climate crisis. The Local Environmental Choice and Safety Act empowers local governments to regulate oil drilling, the Idle Oil Wells Clean Up Bill speeds the cleanup of hazardous idle wells, and the Low-Producing Wells Accountability Act imposes fines on wells that don¡¯t produce much but threaten nearby communities. These bills will reduce fossil-fuel pollution and ensure that oil companies are held accountable for their impacts on public health.
The other two bills focus on wildlife and are key to protecting California's biodiversity. The Poison-Free Wildlife Act expands restrictions on toxic rat poisons that harm wildlife like owls and mountain lions; the Room to Roam Act requires cities and counties to prioritize wildlife connectivity in their land-use planning.
These protections could soon be a reality ¡ª but first the governor must sign the bills into law.

patrons that animal abuse is not acceptable and should not be considered
entertainment.
Rodeo degrades and abuses other animals, including bulls, cows, calves and
horses. The foundation of Rodeo ¡°entertainment¡± is causing animals fear and
pain and making sport of their desire to escape. The only reason
and violently buck and kick is because
of the pain caused by the bucking strap. In the case of the bull the strap is
cinched tightly across his penis. Other cruel events include and ¡°steer wrestling.¡±

The Grand National Rodeo presents us with a unique opportunity
to educate patrons.
Because the Grand National Rodeo takes place at the Cow
Palace in Daly City it not only draws hardcore rodeo fans but also draws
curious San Francisco Bay Area people who aren¡¯t familiar with rodeos and are
receptive to understanding why rodeo is inherently abusive and cruel to
animals.?

In 2019 the Grand National Rodeo was four days long and,
after years of leafleting the Rodeo, the attendance was very low. Similar to
last year, this year the Rodeo is down to two days long.
