Re: Three Covered Bridges July 15 - Thanks!

Dave and Julie,

Dito! I can always enjoy riding with Tandem riding friends (old and new). Great ride, and the Utica route was great, taking me on sections of the ride I don't remember ever riding before.

All others,

Thanks for coming out on this ride. It is always great catching up with riders I haven't seen in awhile and meeting ones that are new to me.

Don

Re: Three Covered Bridges July 15 - Thanks!

Dave and Julie, thank you for organizing a great ride!

All, great to see everyone and as always, nice to ride with so many other tandem teams (and with Don on his single).

Warm regards,

Mark & Orly Williams

Re: Three Covered Bridges July 15 - START LOCATION CHANGE!!!

Hi All,

If you¡¯re able to and you get this on time, please sign up for the ride electronically on the PPTC web site. I was just able to sign up successfully.

If not, we will take signatures in the morning.

Thanks,

Phil,

No I¡¯m not providing a cue sheet for the shortcut; but it¡¯s very visible on the RWGPS map, and I¡¯ll discuss it before the start. It would knock off 12 or so miles. I will also direct anyone interested to the shortcut when we get to the decision point.

Hopefully it won¡¯t be too hot.

Hello Tandem Riders,

The Three Covered Bridges ride for Saturday July 15 at 9 AM is still on. However I've received a request from BBC to modify the route to remove the potentially dangerous crossings of US 15.

Therefore I have CHANGED THE RIDE START LOCATION TO UTICA PARK (which has restrooms):

The 2nd change is that we will be using this RWGPS route. This route is 40 miles and has 1600 ft of climbing, but there is also a shortcut that will knock off 10 or so miles.

This route passes through Emmitsburg, where drinks and snacks are available, and Mt St. Mary's University. We will use the tunnel under US 15 at Mt. St. Mary's to avoid crossing the highway. We also pass near Thurmont, where a detour can be made for food or drinks.

We hope to see you Saturday!
