878UV Plus volume

When I plug in my Anytone speaker-mic into the radio (I bought the Anytone brand
to make sure the plug was correct for the radio), the volume is very low.
Besides the volume control knob, is there a setting in the radio that can give
me some volume boost?

I bought the speaker-mic to make it easier to operate for more than a few
minutes, hoping I could clip it to my shirt and hear the other station without
having to hold it up against my ear.

I have heard that a certain Kenwood speaker-mic works with this radio. If any of
you have one that works well and you don't have to hold the speaker-mic close to
your ear to hear, I'd like to know what the model number of the mic is and also
the Kenwood radio is that it fits (to make it more likely to find one used that
fits this radio).

Thanks in advance!!!

I didn't think I'd find out how to do this but did a web search and I think I
fund what I needed to do. I did a test on a "parrot" and can hear the playback
just fine now. Apparently, some come from the factory with a low volume setting
and some don't.

This has the information except it's for another model and you have to deviate
from the settings path they tell you to follow to make the change. Mine was, I
think, on 1 and I can go to 4. The video shows a max level of 8.

My path was:

Menu-Settings-Radio Set-Voice Func-Ear Max Vol-then choose a #

I set mine at 8 for ear max vol and 8 for Max Vol Level.

I also went in under Voice Func while I was there and chose enhance sound-Mic
Enhance. You'll have to let me know if I sound any better on your end tomorrow.
