ATU1000 software ?

Hi all,

I have an ATU1000 and I just updated the s/w to v3.2 but I didn't take a copy of the eeprom data so now my ATU1000 thinks its an ATU100 :(

Does anyone have a copy of the ATU1000 hex file they can share ?

thanks

Tim

Hi Tim,

I have atu-1000 too. I can send you a hex file. What kind of display do you have and what settings do you prefer??

To my knowledge (I am still verifying schematic) the hardware is the same. Just different PCB layout with bigger components.

I lost the original 1000 firmware too. Silly mistake while copying the pic memory.?

So it should be the same firmware except for eeprom settings (different bridge setting as well the power multiplier setting). The rest is very similar as far as I can judge at the moment. Not sure if you want / need to change the threshold when swr is measured (minimum power). You can set the maximum the should to receive a warning.?

A concern I picked up from other folks; the cores provided by some suppliers are poor quality and the Q factor is very very low. Which means the cores get saturated very quickly when high power is applied.? It would be good to measure the Q factor.

Regards Onno

I just compared the two schematics and as far as I can see the layout is the same. No difference regarding pic control pins to the L & C relays. To me it makes sense that the larger versions are just larger and the control is the same.?

I believe the following values are important to consider;

cell 03 -> timeout cell -> default is 15mS and on my unit the relays are a bit slower. I have changed it to 25mS. Better safe than sorry
cell 05 -> min power to activate, by default this is 5 watt however for the 1KW version you have enabled cell 30. Hence the value you provide here is multiplied by 10. I would set cell 065 to a value of 01. (which means 10W activating)
cell 30 -> value 01 (activate)?
cell 06 -> max power 110 (translates to 1100 Watts)
cell 10 onwards -> the 1KW version uses different L values
cell 20 onwards -> the 1KW version uses different C values
cell 31 -> tandem match turns -> it should be provided by the supplier. I dont remember the number of turns.?

My version has two potentiometers where forward and reflected? can be adjusted as well.?

I have changed the setup from 1KW to 100Watts.? I don't use an amplier and my max output is around 110 watts. So I have changed the bridge to match the ATU-100 turns and change the PIC configuration to match it.

Once I get the C compiler running I will change a couple of things in the program. I would like to use the tuner as a true remote unit and I want to ensure auto tuning (always) as well when I switch off / on the power I want the tuner to come back with initial state. I don't want it to remember the setting. What? I have found so far; when you remove the power the tuner falls back into bypass mode. Which is good.? When you apply the power (assume auto tune is activated) it will recall the last setting and move from there. Which sounds good. However....

I can not explain when tuning a random wire on for example 24Mhz and SWR is about 1:1.6 followed by a bandswitch to for example 18Mhz for whatever weird reason the auto tune does not activate. Even though the swr is worse. When I reset the tuner the tuning sequence starts and the 18Mhz frequency after tuning get to a very low swr of about 1:1.2. I am not sure why this happens but I guess it has to do with complex impedance the the swr bridge not able to recognize the difference.? I did not dive into this topic yet but operational experience shows that there is a very different outcome when the tuner is put into reset after switching bands.?

Best regards,?

Hi Ono,

Thanks for the info, yours is a bit clearer than the docs on github.

I bought my tuner from Russia so I am sure than they parts a good quality.

I know that it handles at least 500w OK, as it works very well with my station, or did until I updated the s/w without taking a copy off the eeprom data.

I haven't seen the odd behaviour that you are seeing, I seem to have a different problem, I'll start a separate thread for that.

cheers

Hi,

Do you know how many coils the transformer has in the coupler system, I have 20 turns.
I wonder what value should be entered in memory location # 31?

20 turns? is ok.
what is your firmware used for it?
I do not have same value in #31 depending on the firmware you are using.

Hi,

I don't think you understood
I asked about the firmware you sent:

ATU-1000W 3.2 -oled-0.96inch-display.hex

In this firmware,? Eeprom in cell #31 is value 99
Cell # 31 is the gear of the coupler system depending on the number of turns,
So how many turns are there in this box that works with Firmware.

I have 20 turns and I don't know what value should I enter in # 31?

Hi Guys,

Maybe someone will help me ....
How to calculate the value that should be entered into Eeprom - cell # 31.
I want to measure the power up to 1000W and I have 20 turns wound in the coupler system.
